How lucky are you?
How lucky are you?, they say. Doing the work that you do, speaking internationally and winning awards, coaching executives and TV shows falling on your lab.
You must be cut from a special cloth. The gods must have come down to touch you, maybe you have royal blood flowing in your veins. You are very luck.
I heard it all, I’ve been described in unbelievable ways and told how blessed I’ve become and how the quality of my life has changed.
What these people don’t know is the 10 years I’ve had to prepare daily with no platform to speak and no one to coach. What they never asked is the times my flat was locked because I couldn’t pay rent. No one is asking of the prayerful nights I had alone begging God to open just one door for me to survive. How about the service I have rendered for free to several churches and organizations that I served every week without a penny. Maybe I should explain the hundreds of thousands I spent on my personal development paying for schools to better myself. Do you still think I’m lucky, now that the quality of my life has changed?
Here is what you should know to become lucky and improve the quality of your life:
1. Be patient – Truth is it might take time to come to pass, you really need to find something you really love and wait. It might not happen tomorrow but it will surely happen
2. Put in the work – You need to really work hard in crafting yourself out into your dreams, it takes sweat and blood, people will hate you and despise you. Partners will leave you and you might even get broke but work hard on it.
3. Self-development – Increase your skills, read as much as you can, attend training as much as you can. There are a lot you can attend even online for free. Spend money on developing your skills and it will pay off later
4. Deal with the mean time – The biggest dream killer is the meantime. If you are working use your income to help develop your skills. If you are not working find something you can do in the meantime to help you survive, pay rent and buy food while chasing the dream. If it means selling tomatoes part time, do it. It’s better to suffer now and enjoy letter than enjoy now and suffer letter.
5. Find your tribe- The path to dreams is a lonely path and you may be discouraged. Find people who are also thinking and going into the direction of your dreams. Run away from the negative ones. You can find these positive thinkers on Facebook pages, community clubs even at church because what you associate with you become
All the best on creating your luck, I hope these few pointers will help you to move a step further to your dream.
Be kind to yourself!
