How To Love The Things You Hate
I have been thinking a lot about the goals and dreams I want to accomplish. Not just the goals I have set for myself this year, but 10 years from now as well. It’s important to realize that dreams without goals are just dreams, and goals without a plan or still dreams.
Here's What I Mean
So, as I am creating my plan of action to acquire and invest in multifamily apartments, I am realizing that the goals I set for myself, such as make “X” amount of phone calls or analyze “X” amount of deals today, is a part of the plan I do not enjoy as much as the overall picture.
I need to be more focused on the overall dream in order to push myself to focus on the smaller goals at hand. In doing this, I have re-wired my brain to focus on the joyful parts of the disliking action.
For example, I do not like to cold call brokers for property information, but I do enjoy creating friendships and colleagues. So, I re-wire my brain to focus on creating a long-lasting relationship with a broker and the by product is getting the property information.
Think About It Like This
Think about this philosophy like you are doing a puzzle. You have the overall picture in front of you and in order to create the picture you must put all of the pieces together right? You have to enjoy connecting the pieces in order to accomplish and reach the entire picture.
Have your overlining dream in mind, but focus on the steps to achieve them. Find ways to enjoy the actions that you hate AND THEN will you gain your traction to accomplish your goals.
