How To Lose Weight, Permanently, Without A Diet Or Going To The Gym…

I typed that headline into Google so many times it made my head hurt. I was obese. I didn’t like saying it, still don’t and I didn’t want to admit it but, I was more than 50lbs overweight, closer to 60lbs. I was big. And it was all in the middle, much more than a spare tire, I had a full set.
I did the whole gym, meathead thing a long time ago and I tried a bunch of diets and…I hated it all. I liked my rich, fat foods and I liked being a couch athlete.
I called a bunch of trainers and I went to a bunch of gyms and they all said the same thing, “You gotta eat clean food. You gotta weigh and measure your food. You gotta get in the gym and workout, hard, at least 3 times a week for at least an hour each time…”
Nope. Not gonna do it. A lifetime ago, I got really into fitness, weight training, etc and I learned a lot. I also starting helping other people do the same thing but, mostly I learned that a lot of personal trainers are focused on making all their clients into athletes. A lot of the advice of personal trainers isn’t really accurate, especially from a nutrition or food standpoint. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying PT’s aren’t giving good advice or what not but, I am saying that a lot of PT’s simply give one size fits all advice- no pun intended.
I wanted to have my cake and eat it too. “Unrealistic, not going to happen, can’t do it”, most PT’s would tell me. Not listening they were. I wanted someone to think outside the box with me, for me. Look, weight loss, for most people, doesn’t work. Everybody gains it all back and more, usually.
What I wanted, if I was going to commit to the process in the first place, was permanent results. If I was going to do this again, I wanted it to be the last time. And that meant I ‘had’ to have my cake and eat it too. Less than 3% of the entire population in the US goes to the gym, permanently. Less than 3% of the total population in the US makes an extreme diet change and sticks with it for life. Know anyone who’s been strictly KETO for more than 10 years? I bet you don’t. And no, KETO isn’t new. KETO has been around since the early 20th century. How come nobody is KETO for life? Because KETO is really really tough to do forever. It’s one of the most restrictive diets of all.
So I wanted something better. I wanted something that was real, sustainable and honest. I’m still going to eat Krispy Crème? donuts now and then, I’ve never been a afraid of a good cheeseburger and french fries…please, of course I’m gonna.
Although I had spent years studying nutrition and fitness when I was focused on lifting and gaining weight and even though I had learned a lot, I went back to school. I earned 3 International Certifications in Diet, Nutrition, Weight Loss and Fitness Coaching. I’m still continuing to study even more and to earn even more certifications.
Then, I set out making a plan, for me. No restrictive diet. No gym.
I lost almost 60lbs…in 9 months. The most important part- all fat loss and I gained muscle in the process. And I did it without becoming a meathead.
How did I do it? The short answer is reducing calories and increasing activity.
The rest of the story is about understanding. I needed to be honest with myself and clearly define my expectations. I also had to clearly define what I was and was not willing to do- forever.
Then I had to better understand food, nutrition, and the values and purposes of each macronutrient- protein, fat and carbohydrates.
And the most important secret of all?...
I had to understand my body and comes to terms with the strangest concept to me- my body would NEVER join me in wanting to be a thinner, healthier me. Sounds crazy doesn’t it? Yep. I know.
But it’s the biggest key of all and it’s the one that set my results on fire!
No one ever told me that before. But once I got it, now I got it.
If you really want to be a thinner, healthier you, you need to understand that losing weight, especially focusing on fat weight is a game that pits you against your own body. That doesn’t excuse not making the effort but it points to the path of least resistance- you have to trick your body into playing the game the way you want. It’s like reverse psychology with kids. You have to make your body think it’s getting what it wants at the same time you get what you want.
If you failed in the past, it’s more than likely not your fault because most people have no idea that their body is actually designed to always gain weight, not lose weight. If you’ve never heard this before, visit our website and learn more; www.pounddowncrew.com
