How To Lose Weight After 40!

How many of those statements do you say to yourself every day?
How many of these things you say to yourself every day? It is a lot, isn't it? So if you talk to yourself like this, what are the chances that you are going to make any progress?
Your weight has nothing to do with your age, skin colour, occupation, position or gender.
Your weight is a reflection of your beliefs, mindset and daily habits.
I remember once I spoke with one of my clients, before she became a client of mine. She was in her mid 40's and struggling to make any sense of her constant effort to lose weight. All I had to do is to ask her few questions for her to realise what she was doing... The questions were:
She realised that she drank wine every single night. She went out partying with friends every weekend and she ate out every single week. But she tried really hard from Monday to Friday to eat really well, but she didn't think anything of drinking a glass of wine every night! I guess you have got your answers too.
So what you can do to lose weight after 40?
Energy balance is all you need to know to lose weight and keep it off.
But you know that already. Right?
So I won't be talking here about what you need to DO, but how you have to change your mindset, to start DOING what you know already!
Your journey starts with self compassion. With giving yourself permission to be where you are right now, without guilt, shame, distress that you have far to go. Once you are at peace with this moment, you will be able to start going forward towards things that you want.
You have to start believing in yourself. Your body is absolutely capable of losing and maintaining the desired weight. But you'd rather spend creating stories and believing in them that you are not able to achieve that. And that is far away from truth.
Start seeing a bigger picture! Your whole life is ahead of you! Weight loss isn't a sprint. It is a life-long commitment to your wellbeing and health, so you can avoid low quality of life and bed ridden lifestyle in your 60's and 70's. So if you start changing how you act towards yourself with food, what changes can you make in 12 months time?
You have to stop giving up on every obstacle you face. Is giving up serving you? How about if you think that Giving up isn't an option. Simple. If you want to feel and look confident in your own body that requires work and you have to do the work not because that is required, but because you want to become a better person in this process. This isn't just about a body or confidence. It is about you staying loyal to your own word, to your own dreams and goals and that takes courage to keep on going.
If you see yourself as a failure, you will act like one. So flip that story you keep telling yourself and see the magic happens. Tell yourself instead "I will reach my goal no matter what it takes!" or "I will find a way!" and you will start acting differently.
Show up. No matter how you feel, just Show Up. For yourself. For your family. For all the things you want. For all the things you believe you deserve. For all the reasons why you started this journey.
One obstacle at a time. Every time you face the obstacle, it is the reason that obstacle is there. It is not a sign saying "Walk away". It is a sign saying "I am here for you to LEARN" and it is your job to stop and see what that obstacle is teaching you. That's it and once you stop running away from it and start facing it, I promise you, you will know next time how to overcome that challenge.
Losing weight after 40 comes down to your beliefs that is possible or not to feel and look great.
It comes down to your attitude towards yourself. Do you see yourself deserving to even try to do something for yourself or you are at the bottom of your list, so what is the point of even trying?
But it will never be about is it possible for you to make it happen, but if this is what you want.
