Managing social media is an art, and not everybody has the right talent to successfully manage it.
Today, I would like to turn things around a bit: If you want to be one of the unsuccessful social media professionals, just follow below 6 simple steps:
Step 1: SELL, SELL, SELL!
Social media is really all about quick sales. The days of a soft approach are long gone. In social media, consumers are desperately looking for information about your products and services. No one likes to see witty updates, interesting facts and simple questions. Never ever talk to them, instead just focus on your products or services, and let them know how much they can save in $$$ on your latest deal.
Step 2: Pick fights or fight back
There were a few campaigns lately where brands have commented out to each other to leverage an incident. Now, this is a smart way to grab some attention and will have a huge benefit to your brand to your brand. Remember, you're only there for yourself and not for your customers. A simple, misjudged post won't really hurt your brand. Never consult at multiple levels or assess potential risks before taking action. And, of course, never be wrong!
Step 3: Have many, many admins
Do not bother to create a streamlined content strategy and allocate the final execution to only one person. Better have several admins to post, comment and reply to messages for the most diverse tone of voice. Do not spend any time with all team members to work out a comprehensive plan.
Step 4: Buy Followers and Fans
No need to grow the fan-base organically, way too old-school. You can just buy fans and followers on various websites or via paid advertising. You will also save time and energy, as you don't need a thought out strategy that aligns with your brands vision and goals. Don't even bother with creating targeted advertising to grow your community, just generate them with a few clicks.
Step 5: Post constantly 24x7
Posting 15 times a day will give you tons of added visibility and credibility. Your fans and the social media platforms themselves will love you and reward you for your diligent work - the more, the better! Do not bother to work on a timetable and posting strategy, as your fans and followers love you, don't they?
Step 6: Create accounts for any social media channel out there
There are tons of social media channels out there. So, you better create accounts for each of them. Start with following step 5) and then constantly reduce your posting up to zero, as your users love you anyway. It looks very impressive to have several social media channels, even though the last post was from 2013.
Thanks for your attention!
