How Long is the Belt in this Roll

This is a common question for people working on belts in the field. Figuring this out is not that difficult but does require a tape measure, remembering that high school geometry class and a calculator or spreadsheet.

You find the area of the entire belt roll (pi r^2), subtract the area of the core, and then divide by the belt thickness. It's a little more complicated for racetrack rolls and cassettes but the process is the same.
