How Lock-down Changed My Life And It Can Change Yours Too!

First, let’s be familiar I am Darpreet Sing 16 years old. Quite an old to right an article about my?life, right? I am an ambivert, studying in class 11, but this story doesn’t start in my 11th. It all started on 27th February 2020, I gave my final exams for 9th grade and that’s the day I felt most astonished because in C.B.S.E the 9th & 11th grades are called to be toughest and that’s pretty true, not the toughest but they are tough. Till March Covid-19 was on mass media, I wasn’t afraid much as I was in the high of my session break. But on March 22nd first ‘Janta Curfew’ was launched and on the 25th Phase, I lock-down was initiated. Now, this was a big hit for everyone as to how will offices and schools function especially in a country like India. Offices had a clear way to be online and that was not much astonishing, but schools who hated technology started classes online, and as we all know ‘Onlne koi padta hai?’?(Translation- Does anyone studies online)?attitude made students and teachers suffer a lot. Now schools were not serious about online studies as they thought, that when lockdown will end they will start physical studies and students are at the worst human behavioral stage. Does anyone thinks that when teachers are not interested to teach students will study, they did what every student will do ‘mischievous activities.’

The Lock-down Paradox

Now, you know the background but you might be thinking how is this related to my life? No, this isn’t related but this how it all started. I was into yoga when I was 8–9 years old, but that all ended because of school and academics. After 11–14 when a child enters adolescence he/she starts to compare themselves to other children and we all know that’s not correct but they don’t understand. School and a regular lifestyle make us numb to our surroundings and changes and we involve more with friends rather than ourselves or with our parents. This lock-down made me realize, friends, are not the real culprits here the real culprit is me. I am the one who is ignorant to all surrounding behaviors and is just focusing on one worthless rote knowledge and leisure. But yoga doesn’t come in here, right? Wrong, I am the person who is not into yoga for Instagram pictures or Snapchat I am the one who connects with it the most I can do it all day long. you should not follow the trend but you must follow your inner voice.

Is Spirituality Marketed?

This all made me realize the essence of god, in our generation believing in God or being religious isn’t cool but being spiritual is. Cause spirituality is cool and is marketed all over the world, but I can assure you can’t be truly spiritual without being able to connect to the peace of God’s belief. Now, being spiritual doesn’t mean to be dipped all day into rituals but it means to be thankful to god. A human can’t be atheist they believe in someone or else as some people believe in their parents a lot and then they are a support of belief for them. The most important thing I learned was that we are mortals, I know this wasn’t hidden my whole life but I realized it. One factor was listening to Covid-19 deaths but the second was my realization and this made me realize that you must work for things you love not for success like marks, job, fame these all are worthless and if you believe in any religion you might know the concept of ‘Kalyug’ the age of downfall. This is the period where people are deflected by pseudo rote knowledge, fame, and inexperienced pleasures.

Skills That Were My Choice

It’s not like I was all into the world of spirituality but I learned some things from this age, one of them was music production I am not that good at it but I can produce some beats on vocals. The second and my most favorite thing I learned was graphic design, and I was the one who didn’t know what was Adobe a year back. I also learned 3d modeling and design and that all was through free sources like YouTube. One thing I’m still learning is Article writing, In schools, we were taught a format and way to write articles and I assumed article writing was boring. But I was wrong article writing wasn’t boring the way we were taught was boring.

The Downfall ??

As we all know every great story has a great climax but this is life sometimes climax comes when you don’t expect it. Like in my case it cam, in the end, I learned a lot of things but in hurries of grasping real knowledge and skill, I forgot I’m still living in a society where rote knowledge integrated marks and money is considered the kings and the queens. Being in 10th grade I had to give my boards so I thought I would cope in the end. But it wasn’t like I was not focusing on studies, I was but my attention was diverted and as the board canceled and I got passed with first division and good marks but I didn’t get the subjects I wanted.

Now, that’s all with my life change. I am happy at the end as I am mentally grown more than I would have if I didn’t grasp the opportunity. Crux — I did the right thing, but trimming was wrong.
