How a LinkedIn post lead to a hire 11 months later.
In February 2021, I read about the idea of interviewing cohorts of similar people to discover problems worth solving and test solutions. I thought what harm could come from trying this myself, so I posted on LinkedIn that I wanted to speak to field sales people:
Fortunately, this post was shared in the Drinks Sales Network and I quickly had interviews booked in with dozens of people.
Dom Jones, who at the time worked at Wildjac Distillery, and has over a decade of field sales experience with Diageo, Monster Energy and Twinings, was one of the people I interviewed.
The three interviews with Dom helped shape the first version of the product that we launched last summer, and from there, we've been paying close attention to how our customers use the platform, and releasing new and improved features every month.
11 months ago when we first met Dom, had no product and no market traction, I'd have found it hard to imagine we'd be able to hire a Sales Director of his calibre in the next year.
Today Dom joins Bowimi full-time to help us scale the business and his expertise in field sales will be available to all of our customers and will shape future versions of our product.
