In our previous blog, we have discussed briefly about Leverage that is a systematic approach in a system so that the organization may run automatically making the enterprise profitable.
To work towards Leverage we must approach by taking one step at a time.
There are four areas of strategies in which a business can define and implement small advancements that can lead it to massive results.
The four areas are:
- People and Education
- Delivery and Distribution
- Testing and Measuring
- Systems and Technology
This four-part blog will discuss these areas in which any business owner can leverage, improve, and expand to get long-lasting results.
The first one we will explore is PEOPLE & EDUCATION.
PEOPLE & EDUCATION:
For any business success, it is necessary that the teams working are highly functional, efficient, and effective. These people working in a large organization or even a small firm can be leveraged to achieve a successful outcome.
Small steps lead to success.
Starting with something as simple as having clear and brief job descriptions, conducting regular team training programs, and explaining and working towards a mission, vision and understanding the company’s culture or values, helps the people working in the organization find the right direction and purpose leading to a highly productive and prosperous business.
There are 20 specific ways to affect change in this area:
1. Run an Ongoing Training System
2. Complete Team Member Positional Contracts
3. Complete Team Skill Based Sessions
4. Have a Redundancy System
5. Develop a Team Social Club
6. Subscribe to Educational Newsletters, Magazines, etc.
7. Develop an Induction Training Program
8. Run Team Building Training Programs
9. Develop a System for Conflict Resolution
10. Develop Your Company’s Rules of the Game
11. Complete a Consistent Recruitment System
12. Develop Contingency Staffing Plans
13. Hold Regular Team Meetings
14. Develop a System for Recognition and Re-numeration
15. Use Behavioral, Personality and Communication Analysis with all Team Members
16. Set the Company Vision and Write Your Mission Statement
17. Build Career Planning within the Company
18. Set Company and Individual Team Member Goals
19. Run-Time Management Training
20. Complete Position “How To” Manuals
Implementing these strategies requires effort and time, but the outcome of following such processes and procedures to leverage your team, helping them expand their skills and knowledge, can get you bigger and better results. Growing your knowledge base as an owner, helps you stay ahead of the competition. The investment you make in your valuable assets, your people, will get you a greater gain.
“As a leader, directing and delegating may come naturally, but listening has become a lost art. Perhaps it’s because we’re all running in high gear, productivity is paramount, and we simply don’t take the time to slow down and truly hear what’s going on around us” (Schwantes, 2020).
Focusing on the development of both your team and leadership skills can help you earn greater benefits.
Marcel Schwantes, Founder and Chief Human Officer of Leadership From the Core, recent article from Inc.com, discusses areas that leaders need to improve to drive real business benefits.
Improving these six leadership skills can without a doubt directly help in the efforts and actions you want to take with your teams.
- Builds trust
- Become relatable
- Demonstrates empathy
- Shows employees they are valued
- Gain different perspectives
- Enhances customer experiences
It is never too late to start establishing new systems. The “new normal” will require you to change various processes within your business. But make sure your employees and team are aware of the updated road map you devise to help you in your success.
Implementing changes without an earlier explanation or team training will rebound your plans and can slow you down. This all may seem like a daunting task and if you dive into the work without any guidance or expertise you will find the journey to a successful business riddled with obstacles and delaying your progress. Strike while the iron is hot and start making meaningful changes.
Have you considered hiring a certified professional business coach to guide you through the process? We will help you make the most of all four leverage areas. This is not a short-term exercise we need commitment from your side.
Having a Business Coach isn’t a luxury; it is a necessity that your business must-have.
Accountability is one of the most prominent strengths of working with a Business Coach. It is hard to get the right objective about your business from yourself, but your Business Coach will always tell you the truth, the truth that may be difficult to accept. With years of successful experience, we can help you develop long-term and short-term goals and strategies, provide valuable insight and improve your business in areas that you might have overlooked.
We know that you may be able to survive without a business coach, but can you thrive?
