Frequent contribution, instead of sitting in the background only giving insight when needed is a way of making those in charge of your salary much more likely to notice you. If you are not noticed, and if you are not contributing then you cannot even begin to negotiate a raise.?

Instead, you need to be proactive in your engagements with both your customers and your colleagues. Being forthcoming with help and in some cases, encouragement can shift the mindset of your management about who you are as a person. If you are proactive and driven you will be noticed and given more responsibility and therefore you will be eligible for an increase in your salary.?

Extra-Curricular engagements

This will take a bit of planning and will largely depend on your role - but if you are planning to increase your salary you will be in an even better position if you are participating in any engagements outside of work.?

Again, this is more about visibility than anything. If you are putting yourself in front of your business leaders and making yourself visible to the point where new opportunities will be presented to you - therefore give you a much greater opportunity to earn.

Do the dirty work

If no one else wants to do it - take up the mantle yourself! This is a simple way of immediately asserting yourself as a go-getter and making sure your management knows you are going to do whatever it takes to help the team.?

This kind of behavior will ensure that you will be put forward for the best roles possible, and will make sure that you get the best salary possible.

Negotiate effectively

Job candidates are often measured against well-defined job categories and salary ranges in large established companies. Additionally, you may negotiate compensation with recruiters or human resources personnel instead of with your future boss. Consider what pay category someone with your education level and experience would receive in this environment when determining how to negotiate salary.?

You need to be firm but open and honest in discussing your options and making sure you get the best possible package.

Become more certified

It is never a good idea to go into a meeting unprepared to ask for a promotion. Getting a promotion should not just be a matter of showing up and demanding it without any backing. Taking the time and energy to prepare for this important conversation is imperative if you hope to land a promotion.

The easiest way of getting ready for this daunting experience is to prepare a promotional document. A promotion document simply will outline everything in which you have succeeded in the recent time in your career and any particular strong wins which can give you an edge in a promotional scenario.?

In the end, if this doesn't work for you in your current role, you can always use this to interview and negotiate a higher-paying role somewhere else!
