Life is a journey that comes with ups and downs. These experiences do not always come the way we want them to. The journey in itself can be an adventure or a struggle, and for many of us this brings about the urge to always have total control of all that happens around us.
However, trying to always be in charge of every circumstance is one way that many individuals succumb to anxiety, stress or even depression. This is because most circumstances in our lives cannot be controlled. We have to become aware that although we might not always be able to control our circumstances, we are in control of our response. Letting go of control saves you a great deal of stress and increases life satisfaction.
How to let go of control
1.????Accepting realities and moving on: Due to possible traumatic experiences, many spend their years in a state of denial. This may be due to a loved one's passing, a job loss, or unfortunate marriage decisions that people are still battling with, among other things, which continue to affect their way of thinking and acting. We need to develop the ability to accept things outside of our control and let them go before they start to negatively impact our happiness.
2.????Let love lead: As I became older, I learned that choosing love over control is the surest way to be happy in life. Acceptance and love guide us to approach our difficulties in a more powerful and clear-headed way. Practicing this gives one inner peace and happiness.
3. Do not be overly expectant: To live life to the fullest without added stress, be hopeful but not overly optimistic about results. Being overly optimistic is one misstep that most individuals make that has the possibility of leaving them deeply disappointed when things do not go as envisioned.
4. Show gratitude: Expressing gratitude to those who assisted you in achieving your objectives is a good way to let go of control and pride. This encourages peaceful coexistence amongst individuals in relationships, schools, churches, mosques, and companies since everyone feels safe and appreciated.

5. ?Visualizing circumstances and their consequences before acting: Many people have expressed deep regret for their acts because they didn't think about the consequences. You will benefit greatly by growing your emotional intelligence and considering the possible implications of your actions. This will prevent you to want to control the negative consequences afterwards.
6. Keep it simple: Living a simple, carefree life relieves stress and makes us happy. We can see the beauty in small things and can enjoy the most simple pleasures. Living from a place of humility, simplicity and ease will give you peace of mind and calm.
Control is a fear based behavior. Letting go of control is a sign of faith, confidence and maturity. It brings more clarity in our lives so that we can take action when needed, and let go when needed.
May you live with that clarity of mind.
Much love, Barbara.

1 年This afternoon I had coffee with an old friend--well old in the number of years we have know each other (more than 25) and old in the sense that both of us are 75. One of the things we spoke about was this concept--letting go of control, giving away control, and realizing our compassion and love. It is a topic of great importance and one of considerable difficulty to actually do. Great article and thank you for sharing! #lifeisprecious
