How to let go and grow

One of the challenges in a growing business is creating healthy building blocks for growth. We can move to the next level when we are willing (and ready) to let go of the way things were. The present needs to become the past. We need to?move from the comfort of the known role?into the discomfort and unknown of a new role.?
This is surprisingly difficult for most people, especially those that love their jobs! Yet, for anyone to expand and grow (and that includes the founder!) it’s necessary to let go of tasks, let go of out-dated ways of thinking and especially let go of fears. As a team member, the way to be promoted is to make the job look easy.?
This means creating systems and processes so you can step out and make space for your replacement to step in. Those with a clear idea of where they are going find this easier that those who are fearful or unsure. Without clarity for the next step, we tend to cling to the present and fear its loss. But those who know what they want and where they are going are more ready to cast off the old and leap into the new.?
In practical terms this means?being clear with team members where you see them growing to?– by building an individual growth path for them within the company succession plan.?
As a leader we too must constantly stretch ourselves to grow, for its only when we do, that we create space beneath us into which others can move. In effect our own rate of growth, determines the rate of growth of the business and the team within it.?
So, if you are a leader with ambitions, make it a practice to be clear about your own growth steps, and help your team members to clarify theirs so that you all develop the confidence to?let go and grow!??
Have a great week ahead!

-?"I love this!?When I speak/teach, this is what I speak about. I have found that whether you are speaking to a group of young people or seasoned Executives, it’s always enlightening for people to realise their Super Power! Often people tend to look outside and think other people are great, smart, powerful - which is fine, but when they realise they themselves can do something that no one else can do - that is usually the turning point. They can be themselves and that’s enough!?The young people we’ve “coached” and taught this have really ran with it and are doing great things (especially because sometimes their Super Power might be something they’ve never thought was special at all).G ood one!" - Sally
