How LEGO Serious Play can help your business

How LEGO Serious Play can help your business

Everyone has heard of LEGO. It's been a mainstay of childhood play time for over 50 years but did you know that for 20+ years it's been used in business as well? LEGO Serious Play is just as it sounds, it's fun with a purpose.

Based in part on research and theories of Jean Piaget and Seymour Papert, LEGO Serious Play provides people the opportunity to explore ideas and uncover new insights like no other opportunity. When your hands are involved, your brain is highly engaged allowing more of the free thinking ideas to flow.

With the methodology, all people involved get a chance to talk and share. This alone can help people increase their confidence and allow others to listen. Rather than getting two or three people to dominate a discussion, you get a much more even approach to discussion and idea sharing. This allows for hidden insights to be unveiled. Just because you are the leader or the loudest doesn't mean you have a monopoly on all the good ideas.

LEGO Serious Play can be used to help people develop real attachments to vision and values of an organisation. Participants get the chance to build a model that represents something such as 'What they can do to demonstrate a positive attitude at work' or 'A problem that customers have in dealing with the business' or ' A challenge they are facing in their role right now'.

Learning the facilitation skills needed for a successful session is quite straight forward and can unlock the doors of some excellent meetings and creative sessions. You can look up various events about LEGO Serious Play pretty much anywhere in the world. The next 3 day masterclass in Auckland New Zealand is on 5,6 and 7 November.
