How to leave a powerful LinkedIn comment + a special announcement

Hi Reader,

Let’s talk about a simple yet effective way to boost your LinkedIn presence: leaving powerful comments. Many people get nervous posting on LinkedIn. That’s why I’m such a huge proponent of commenting. Comments = content, and they’re a much lower-stakes way to dip our toes into content creation on LinkedIn. Here’s how to make your comments stand out. ?

?? Tip of the Day

Think quality, not quantity. A good rule of thumb is to aim for comments with at least 15 words. This ensures that your comment adds value and provides a thoughtful contribution to the conversation. It also helps others learn about you and your area of expertise and experiences. LinkedIn is a social network, after all!

Too many people leave comments like:

? I agree!

Instead, they should look more like:

? I agree! I would also add these three points: [point 1, point 2, and point 3].

Here’s an example of a comment I left recently where I followed this format:

Want a safe place to practice? Try commenting on this recent post of mine . :)

Thank you for this tip Lorraine. I’m really good at leaving comments on Instagram. Some of my comments receive hundreds of likes, sometimes thousands and one went up to over 50K. I need to practice this more on LinkedIn.

I love today’s tip of the day because what you said is true: 1. Comments are content. 2. Another thing about comments: they are mini-posts. 3. Think about the author when you comment and the people who read your comments. Another tip: comment to expand the post by adding an additional tip or a resource or a testimonial from applying the advice. P.S. Thank you for the tip, Lorraine! #CareerBites
