How to learn faster using social media?
My family is a bit odd in many ways ... but one is how we use social media. My 13 year old daughter Sumay enjoys long form podcasts. She listened to an eight hour long podcast recently between Lex Fridman and Balaji Srinivasan, both thought leaders in technology. To structure her thinking and socialize her ideas she created a "Tweet Thread" available to the public.
Why go through the trouble of writing down her thoughts and sharing with the public?
1) Retention
Like all WEquil School projects, nearly everything my daughters learn they remember because they wrote it down and shared it with the world. This tweet thread is one of over a thousand projects Sumay has published. When she speaks she can easily pull knowledge instantly from things she learned years ago because PBL created artifacts that become extensions of the mind.
2) Collaboration
I was able to go through the thread and reply back with some comments and suggests to help her better understand. She even tagged Balaji in the thread so if he finds it he could potentially clarify his thoughts or improve his thinking from her summary!
3) Connection
She also published the thread on WEquil.App so members of her community that appreciate her work can connect! We then replied to Lex Friedman's tweet of his podcast with Balaji so others who follow them can discover Sumay's summary and potential connect with her on the basis of their shared interest.

Many people find social media to be a waste of time, and even cause them to feel addicted, anxious or depressed.
Perhaps that's because they are doing it the way it was designed...tricking you into consuming content to sell you advertisements.
We teach kids and adults how to grow from consumers to creators...because that is how they will find success in our new digital + global economy.
Sincerely,
