How to learn digital marketing without leaving your job.

In 2021 my knowledge of #digitalmarketing was ZERO.

By mid 2023, I had trained over 1200 sales people in the top #auto companies in India.

Here are 7 tips that enabled me to learn digital marketing.

1. Binge watch on digital marketing content on YouTube.

Plenty of awesome YouTubers out there with 100 video long playlists on Meta ads, Google ads etc.

All free.

I followed Umar Tazkeer Ben Heath #Senator we run ads & more.

Just search for "Facebook ads tutorial 2024" on YouTube and begin watching.

2. One digital marketing course every two weeks.

The first course I did was with Nimit Shah which was a 4 hour Facebook ads Mastery course.

Then did the LinkedIn mastery course with Vaibhav Sisinty ↗?

Then an intensive performance marketing course with GrowthSchool

Then How to YouTube by Ankur Warikoo

Plus many more courses on Amazon ads / Google ads etc.

Initially did courses for Rs 499.

3. Practice running campaigns for a real business, not an academic project.

In my case I was already was selling online courses in #sales, #fmcg etc.

For those courses, I would have run every campaign imaginable - #brandawareness, #leadgeneration, #remarketing, #YouTube ads, you name it, I ran it.

Along with daily (YES DAILY) tracking of analytics, (mostly because it was my own money) this was the single biggest impact on my learning.

But if you are working in a job, what would you do?

Here are some ideas.

Reach out to your friends & family - those who are running their own businesses.

Offer your services for free.

Create a website for them.

Start managing their social media handles - Instagram Facebook Google Business Profile.

Run brand awareness or lead ads for them.

Apply your learnings.

You now have proof of concept.

Which you can put in your resume.

It will help you understand what your competence levels are.

4. Start commending on digital posts on online communities.

Lots of digital marketing groups on Facebook Reddit, Inc. Quora.

This will enable you to understand how your knowledge stacks up to global experts.

5. Start implementing this in your own job role.

Yes - no need to quit your role.

If you are in an auto company, run ads for your dealers.

Same in fmcg.

Run whatsapp marketing campaigns for top kirana stores in your area.

6. Follow social media handles of top brands Zomato Swiggy CRED Spotify Amul (GCMMF) for daily inspiration.

Search for the hashtag #marketing or #digitalmarketing on #twitter (now X) & follow those posts.

7. Now you are ready to write & share your experiences on #Linkedin Timeline - 180 days. I took longer.
