#RISK AI London Conference: Pauline Norstrom FRSA FIoD FBCS Norstrom, Anekanta?’s founder, addressed critical topics in AI risk:

  • AI Risk for Directors and Officers: Highlighting duties in Responsible AI strategy to avoid scandals like the Dutch Government’s childcare benefits case, linked to several EU AI Act requirements. Anekanta? has published an analysis linking this scandal to business practices and developed an AI Governance Framework adopted by the Institute of Directors.
  • Unlocking Competitive Advantages: It was emphasised how a well-planned and managed AI strategy can create significant opportunities for businesses of all sizes. Start-ups and SMEs, for instance, can compete nimbly against larger enterprises. AI enables leveraging proprietary data to enhance distinctiveness while safeguarding intellectual property. It was noted that Responsible AI and AI are considered inseparable, urging businesses to align with responsible practices.
  • Human Oversight in AI: Moderating this session, the panel highlighted the importance of designing systems that enable people to interpret and respond to AI decisions effectively. This principle aligns with the EU AI Act’s requirements and the overarching need for human oversight as a core trustworthy AI practice.

Bridge AI and 英国标准协会 Webinar on ISO/IEC 5259: Promoting the new data quality standard to enhance Responsible AI. Our founder contributed to discussions this month promoting the new data quality standard emphasising its role in enhancing Responsible AI adoption.

BSI Webinar on BS 9347: Discussing the new facial recognition standard Code of Practice BS 9347 for the ethical use and deployment of facial recognition technology in video surveillance. The Code of Practice, which Anekanta? helped to write, may bridge a gap in UK legislation. It is aligned with Anekanta?'s Privacy Impact Risk Assessment System? and integrates the OECD.AI principles to ensure trustworthy AI deployment. Register here: BSI Webinar Registration. Anekanta? is proud to have contributed to the CoESS - Confederation of European Security Services Charter on the Ethical and Responsible Use of AI in European private security services.

This Charter provides essential guidance for security companies integrating high-risk AI into their operations in the EU, emphasising a human-centric approach to AI innovation. It offers practical recommendations and compliance requirements, including a checklist, to help companies navigate AI integration responsibly and effectively in line with the new EU AI Act.
