Promotion is essential for your organization's success. But what does it mean to promote your nonprofit effectively? And how can you do it??
But first let me lay to rest a common misunderstanding among nonprofits, “if we just build it, they will come.” I too held this notion for many years. I worked hard on crafting the perfect experience and the key philosophical underpinnings for the organization. But there was one problem, very few people came. The reason? Most people had no idea that we even existed. The very people we wanted?to serve were clueless about our existence. Promotion was missing from our efforts.?

1 年"Understand that your audience will go through a series of well-defined stages before taking part." The context was more spiritual/ theological at the time, but I remember you saying to someone: "The problem is that they want to have a step 10 conversation with someone who's at step 1." I see that mismatch quite a bit, even in myself.

1 年Sam, you are right. Promotion is key to the growth of any nonprofit. I self-funded for years, until I realized my strategy was limiting our growth. Now we are reaching out and creating the much needed awareness.

1 年The fundraising side of non-profits is essential, how those funds are spent is also important. I work with many non-profits that distribute items to their communities. Whether it's school supplies, toys, hygiene items, diapers, coats or whatever, purchasing those items at wholesale will make those dollars spend further. I'm available to speak with any organization who'd like to hear more.
