I’ve been working with a few amazing clients recently who have all been struggling to get something new off the ground.
One is trying to launch their own business, another is trying to sell a new programme, and a third is trying to build a new career path as a paid speaker.
Now before I say anything else, hands down, these people are super smart, have a wealth of skills and experience, and really compelling propositions, but they’ve all struggled with the same thing:
Failure to Launch (that’s what one of them termed it!)
When I started working with them, they each reported things like:?
“I just can’t get any traction”,?“It doesn’t matter what I do, nothing seems to work”,?“I’m trying all the things, but nothing is happening.”
So what was going on?
In a word, inconsistency.
Because they each cared so much about their new ventures working and being successful, they’d fallen foul of something very human; letting anxiety and panic drive their decisions and actions.
Instead of sticking with one approach long enough to genuinely test its efficacy in driving interest, new business leads and paying clients, fear of failure was causing them to scatter gun.
It meant they were jumping quickly from one approach to the next, trying myriad?things without stopping long enough to gather feedback and evidence, which would genuinely help them understand what was working and build on it.

Now this response is incredibly common. I’ve done this exact same thing several times myself over the years!
When we desperately want something to work, the easiest thing to do is take lots of actions in a bid to calm our brains and prove we are doing everything in our power to achieve that thing.
But it often leaves us distracted, without focus, and lacking in any kind of intel that would actually help us achieve our goal.
The truth is, we need evidence to learn what works.
Trying one thing once isn’t enough to test anything (believe me, I’ve tried!!)
The magic often happens when we apply all of our energy to one focus area, take consistent action in that direction with a mindset of play and learning, assess the results, and then adapt our next steps based on those insights.
So if you are in the same boat, wanting to launch or achieve something new, be mindful of the urge to keep switching tactics.
Challenge yourself to sit in the discomfort of one or two focus areas, give them your all, investigate what works and what doesn’t, and then tweak your approach based on hard data.
That’s what I’ve got my brilliant clients doing and it’s already leading to concrete new business leads, paying clients and an increased profile for them! ??
