How A Last Round Interview Rejection in 2020 took me from 0 to 54k+ Linkedin Followers?

"Harsh, Can I see your Linkedin Profile?" Asked the CEO of a potential company I thought I will be working with.
I cleared all rounds with flying colors and was supposed to get the offer. I was on the job hunt and pretty optimistic.
But, things turned south as I saw the facial expressions of the CEO changing as he reviewed my profile.
My palms turned sweaty as I knew I had 0 posts and only an account. I kept silent as he asked,
"Harsh, so many achievements including a successful career change and ZERO activity on Linkedin? How come? Do you not believe in Networking?"
Honestly, I had no answer to the question because I thought in-person #networking was enough at work. I framed an answer and came back home with my head hung low.
And, the inevitable happened. I got a rejection email. By that time; lockdown happened as well and all my potential offers went down the drain.
To make things worse, I was stuck home alone in absolute shatters and feelings of doomsday.
My mind kept asking what I am going to do now? I had some previous savings so that became a relief and I still remember,
My first post on Linkedin had 3 likes, one mine and two by others out of pity as I lived with the unemployed tag.
That boiling negativity of not feeling enough became a bedrock to start writing on Linkedin. I kept the process simple and started sharing my personal and professional experiences.
Initial days were hard but my creator muscle became my best friend. I kept writing, eating, sleeping, and exercising.
Whenever I got an opportunity outside the platform; I interviewed but no luck. As I kept creating, I got a message from an agency founder saying,
"Harsh, we like your writing style and subject matter expertise. Would you like to work with us?"

I was on cloud nine as I wanted motivation and an income source as well. I started working and in the process, got many referrals too.
Slowly, full-time employers started reaching out too even during the pandemic. I got a big project from a healthcare technology firm and got the opportunity to work with VP, Population Health, North America.
My motivation streak continued and in 2 years and 4 months:
I have created 2000+ posts for my profile alone, bagged freelance writing clients from India and Overseas, got the opportunity to be a part of Linkedin for Creators and the first batch of Linkedin Creator Accelerator Program in India 2022 as well.
Consistency never became a problem for me because I always wrote my experiences, which took minimal research.
So, what all it took apart from a laptop and an internet connection?
And Linkedin Changed my life in 2 years. It's less than 2 actually because I also got hospitalized in between owing to health problems.
For now, I am loving my freelancing journey while working with coaches and CEOs while furthering my vision to bring #mentalhealth awareness in India.
I get DMs every day about how my content is helping people learn what seems to be like common sense for me.
You know why? Because there is power in speaking through the social mic. We are better than we think we are. But, how would you know until you hit post on your first post on Linkedin?
Start writing on Linkedin and watch your network skyrocket while you leverage what you already know and make room for the best that's yet to arrive.
