How Knowing Your WHY Helps You Connect and Transcend the Language Barrier.

How Knowing Your WHY Helps You Connect and Transcend the Language Barrier.

Do?you ever wonder why you do what you do?

Having recently facilitated a series of ?Discover Your WHY workshops in China and Brazil, I came away with a key personal insight from the participants: once a person reaches beyond their layer of logic and thought, and accesses their feelings, (by connecting with their why,?regardless of any language barrier), they can understand themselves better.

Since I don't speak Chinese or Portuguese, I initially relied on trying to understand facial expressions and body language that manifested part of their?hardwiring, (this was of course with the help of an excellent interpreter).?

At first, I thought that?maybe I was lucky, but each time a person connected with their why, a smile would come out...... ?they had started to understand themselves from this new perspective. This?happened again and again within these very diverse cultures.?

Here are some thoughts about knowing your why:

  • Language barriers can be gradually overcome once we take the time to immerse ourselves in connecting with others.
  • Cultural barriers can be lowered once we take the time to study and learn about how others do what they do.
  • Getting to the why?of a person creates clarity which allows for greater understanding, leading to better communication in a shorter time frame.
  • Once you know your why,?use it to create greater understanding between yourself and those you share your life with both personally and professionally.?

?In conclusion, I believe that when you know your WHY, you'll know your way.

We all know what we do for a living as well as how we do what we do. What is?often missing is why?we do what we do. What is your WHY??
