How To Know You’ve Been Awarded a Government Contract

So, you're wondering how you'll find out if you won a? federal government contract? Look, I already see you as a winner. You already know you’re a winner too!?
But here's the million-dollar question…
Does the government understand that you should be a winner? And if they do, how do you find out??
When it comes to the federal government, regardless of the opportunity type - be it on SAM.gov, Unison, FedConnect, or through the PIEE (PI System), you've put in time, energy, and possibly money to prepare your proposal.?
Notifications?
Theoretically, an agency should notify you. “Theoretically” because, as with life, you can’t control anyone but yourself. So, an agency should, in theory, make the notification live or send a document (an email, Word document, or PDF) to let you know the outcome.
Typically, if you've won, you can expect a call, an email, or both. Sometimes the email is brief, other times, it has the contract itself. If you're part of a team and not the prime contractor, you'll need to check with the prime to see what happened.
Finding Out If You Didn't Win
If you're not sure whether you've won, you could reach out to the contracting officer or check SAM.gov. Keep in mind though, all decisions may not be posted on SAM.gov.??
For submissions through specific platforms like FedConnect or a GSA schedule, there are direct ways to find out, such as email notifications or status indicators within the GSA platform.

Using Debriefs for Future Success
Requesting a debrief is a powerful step. Once you suspect or know you haven't won, reach out for a formal debrief.?
It’s an opportunity to sell your uniqueness for future opportunities, gather valuable feedback, and plant seeds for future collaboration. This is especially great if you're in the process of getting certifications or looking for other profitable wins.
I hope I've not only inspired you to learn how to check to see if you've won contracts but also encouraged you to take lessons from every submission you make to government agencies.?
