How to Know What You Really Want

If you're unsure about what you want in life, I'll give you one question that can help lead you to the answer.

And if you are unsure what you want in life, I don't think you are alone. I think there are a lot of people that put on this facade that they know exactly what they want...

But how many people have created goals they thought they wanted but really didn't want?

The answer is probably: too many to count.

This frequent disconnect might stem from the fact that many personal development strategies focus solely on the positive, appealing aspects of our nature, neglecting to address the more complex, less acknowledged parts of ourselves.

The question I'm about to present to you is ONE QUESTION that I've only seen two people ever talk about - one being Robert Green and the other being Patrick Bet David.

And I think that's because it's not fluffy and nice and it makes us uncomfortable. It even made mede me a little uncomfortable when I asked myself the question and I think that's because we like to live pretending that we never feel dark emotions like envy. But the truth is that we are human and we do.

The irony is (but unsurprisingly), is that in the "Personal Development" space people usually lean towards questions that make them feel good and comfortable.

But doesn't growth really happen outside of the comfort zone?

Ask yourself: "Who do I envy?"

You probably won't like what you first feel, but you're not asking yourself this question to stay in that state. You're asking yourself this question to gain insight to your deep desires and unearth insights and turn them into motivation.

For example: if you ask yourself the question and someone you know that lives in the countryside and writes books for a living pops up in your mind (and you are currently not writing and living in a bustling city) maybe this answer alone could be an indicator that deep deep down you really want to be in the country and writing books for a living...

I'll give you one more example: If thinking about someone who left their job to start an online business resonates with you, it might indicate a hidden aspiration to do the same.

These are aspirations that your brain, often focused on keeping you safe and your life predictable, might typically keep from you.

This question allows you to tap into deeper wishes and potentially set a course for fulfilling them.

At the very least, even if you don't immediately act on these insights, you could learn something new about yourself today.

Sincerely,

Shanee Moret

Shanee Moret What a powerful question to ask to reveal our inner desire on a professional level.?Who do I envy??When I reflect on that question that does reveal a lot.?When planning career movement, or helping others planning career moves, that’s a great question to start asking to start deciding what to do next when it comes to those moves whether lateral or vertical, or even career pivots.

The green eyed monster! If we're striving for fame, fortune or just quiet life ...there's always someone out there doing it already (perhaps better than you?). I have 'envy hot flashes' daily ??. Emotional intelligence and greater self-awareness opens up the door to hidden shadow desires. As you said Shanee, asking yourself one question leads to an even deeper question ( and insights) ... "Why do I want what he/she has?" Don't feel bad about being envious, be grateful for the valuable yet 'uncomfortable' guidance- and truth it brings. PS: Iam still wading my way through the door stopper of a book by Robert Greene! ??

Thank you very much, Shanee. I believe I really know what I want. Maybe if you are a Christian, you will come to realize that, certain times some of your wants may have to delay by God for a reason. Well some of my wants may have to be realizing my goals for 2024. Also I will be glad to have my Education programs with Url: https://www.timtechgh.net/Edu_train.htm and select Courses, which I started in 2001 to be successful; since when we started the education/training program for the District Assemblies in Ghana at the inception of our program , it was always over-subscribed. Thank you and God richly bless you.
