What's more important to a business than its brand? The value of your brand, both personally and business-wise cannot be overstated...very difficult and lots of work to build up, can be wrecked with one or two mistakes and bad moves. The equity and good will cannot be replaced if it's lost.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone just toss it away...
Just look at?Twitter?becoming x and throwing away basically all brand equity as the most recent example.
These are the top 100 global brands by value. United States based businesses make up half the list with big tech, media, and retail at the top...of course, there's a lot of overlap -?Google?(#3) is much more than a straight media company,?Amazon?(#1) is clearly not just a retailer by any stretch, and?Microsoft?(#4) is a lot more than straight up tech.
Finance, autos and energy take up a lot of spots in this list as well. As always?Visual Capitalist?creates and shares excellent content that should lead to lots of thought and conversation - here is the full report
Would love to know your reactions and thoughts, thanks. How do you build your own or your companies' brand? And how do you insure its place in the market?
Matt Levine is the GOAT fyi...
What does this mean? Did an AI write this? Seriously:
Evolutions and pivots are needed - and waiting too long can also be a brand killer in its own way. Twitter clearly has issues, huge ones for years. But the name has meaning, the words associated with it, tweeting, tweeps...can't just be replaced.
And it was clearly not thought through -
Enough about killing a brand in x days though - here's what's important and can actually move the needle for you personally and business-wise.
The stories about angst make it sounds like boomers are trying to take Gen X's corner; maybe we deserve it. We didn't do a good enough job taking on significant leadership positions,
especially on the political scene.
What is the true point of work? How can we inject some purpose?
And will we be prepared enough to live as we desire later in life - we'll never be done, things don't just flick on like a switch at a certain age.

1 年Among the many hard realities re-taught by the pandemic, when supply chains were broken and end-consumers of practically any product or service sought alternatives, is that brand is far from being a wide-moat (to help companies fend off encroachment by competitiors and keep revenue + profit growth improving for 20 or more years). To the contrary, brand turned out to be a narrow-moat. Easily crossed in just hours, days, and weeks by more agile rivals intent on seizing market share that took brands years and decdes to build. When it comes to survival, we're all just nine meals, missed.over three consecutive days, away from what separates established order from chaos.
