How to Keep Your Email Marketing Efforts Out of Spam

There are so many experts that are sharing strong, valuable content with their email lists, but key recipients aren't even seeing those emails come through. Why?

Well, if you aren't mindful of how you are sending your marketing emails or newsletters through your email management system, there's a change that your emails are automatically landing in your subscriber's spam folders.

So, let's talk about how to avoid that and make the most of your email marketing efforts!

How do you keep your emails and newsletters out of your subscriber's spam folder?

1. Get the reader to engage with the first few emails you send them.

This is why lead magnets are so powerful. When someone opts-in to get your lead magnet, you can email them the attachment or a link to the download. By the way -- you should definitely be doing this.

We have tested both ways to deliver a lead magnet to your people: 1. A pop-out window with the lead magnet download.

2. An email with the lead magnet download.

Always use the email route, especially if email marketing is part of your marketing plan.

The recipient has to engage with your email to retrieve the lead magnet. That engagement keeps you in their inbox unless the subscriber manually unsubscribes or flags you as spam. And if your emails aren't annoying, they probably won't flag you or unsubscribe.

It's a win-win!

2. Don't switch your emailing platform cold turkey.

Staying out of spam happens by building email credibility with the recipient's hosting platform, and of course, the recipient. Building email credibility is like building your credit score: slow and steady wins the race.

Consistent, engaging, and valuable content is key.

Email often, but not too often. Make the first few lines juicy, but not over the top. Add value through education, make your subscribers better and more knowledgeable than they were before they got your email.

3. Add links to past content you've created into your email to help segment your email list.

When you have links within the email that leads readers to specific topics, you can learn a lot about the interests of the people on your list. If someone is clicking on "retirement planning", we can send them more topic specific content that feeds into what we know they care about.

Follow the data and get results.
