How It’s Like to Work Remote For a Start-up, The Insights from Our Product Manager, Haris Ali

I joined LottieFiles in October 2021 as a Product Manager, and It's been an absolute pleasure to be a part of the LottieFiles team for the past year. As a Product Manager, I have had the opportunity to take on various responsibilities and challenges. I truly appreciate the benefits of working for a remote start-up company.

Freedom of time and space

LottieFiles is a 100% remote company with coworkers scattered across different countries. What I have come to appreciate is the flexibility and autonomy that this affords me. As someone who loves working remotely, both from home and in different locations, I have enjoyed the freedom to set my schedule and work in a way that suits my personal style and needs.

The strong culture of trust and autonomy in LottieFiles has allowed me to work at my own pace and in a way that is most productive for me. I am not a fan of working continuously for long periods of time, and the flexibility of LottieFiles has allowed me to work in blocks of time that suit my personal style and needs.

Personal growth in a start-up environment?

In addition to the flexibility of working remotely, I have also been really impressed by the opportunity for personal growth that LottieFiles provides. As a start-up, the company works at a fast pace and constantly faces new and interesting challenges. This has allowed me to learn and grow both personally and professionally. I have recently had the chance to work with the company's flagship product team and contribute to several different product launches and internal projects. Working at LottieFiles has allowed me to meet and work with some of the best and brightest people in various disciplines, such as product, engineering, and design, which has contributed to my personal growth and development.

Moving countries

One of the things I love most about working for a remote company is the ability to work from anywhere. I joined the company in late 2021 while living in the Maldives, my country. Since then, I recently moved to the UK and have really appreciated the freedom to work from home or from different locations around the country. Working remotely has also given me the chance to experience new cultures and ways of life, as I have been able to work with coworkers from all over the world.

Finding ways to overcome the challenges

That being said, working from home can also come with its own set of challenges. Here are a few tips that have helped me stay productive and motivated while working remotely:

1. Set up a dedicated workspace - It's important to have a dedicated space for work that is separate from your personal life. This can help you stay focused and avoid distractions.
2. Create a schedule - Having a set schedule can help you stay organized and on track. I like to block out specific times for different tasks and take breaks in between to help me stay energized and focused.
3. Stay connected - Working remotely can sometimes feel isolating, so staying connected with your coworkers and team is important. I try to make a point of having regular check-ins and social calls to stay in touch with my team and feel connected to the wider LottieFiles community.
4. Take breaks - It's important to take breaks and step away from your work every now and then to recharge. I like to go for a walk or do some stretching to help me stay energized and focused.

Overall, my journey at LottieFiles has been a wonderful experience. The company is filled with talented and passionate people who are dedicated to creating innovative products and solutions, and the flexible, fast-paced environment has allowed me to thrive and grow as a Product Manager. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful company, and I look forward to continuing my journey with LottieFiles in the future.
