How it's Going

Since announcing that I would be joining Curative as an advisor a few months ago, virtually every conversation I have with former colleagues, former clients and long-time industry contacts begins with the question… “how’s it going?”?

Short answer: It has been fun.?I really like it.?Great people.?Great company, getting better every day.?(You can skip to the last paragraph ??)

(very) Long answer:?My first meeting was an almost all-day affair, a quarterly review.?It began with me feeling like an interloper, not fully understanding the terminology being used, not knowing the people or the issues.?As I sat and listened, I began to understand what was being discussed.?Not surprisingly, they were trying to solve many of the same problems that we had faced at my old company. ?I started to feel confident that I could help; I hope I have.?

The struggles businesses face are mostly the same across industries, certainly it’s true in the staffing industry and of direct competitors.?Some problems, out of necessity, luck or determination, get solved quicker than others and some solutions are more elegant than others.?Since starting, I have marveled at some of the things Curative is doing that are far cooler/better than what we did at The Medicus Firm, the company I co-founded in 2001 and retired from at the end of 2019.?On the other hand, there are probably an equal number of things that Curative continues to work on that I felt we had more or less solved.?It’s truly about 50-50.???

Therein lies the beauty of the advisory role.?It enables a company to benefit from solutions that other companies have searched for and found; eliminating the pain and calorie burn of experimenting and failing.?It’s really smart and I wish we had done it at The Medicus Firm.?Live and learn!?However, I am excited to help Curative make substantial advances quickly.?It’s fun to see the progress.?

Curative is doing really exciting things.?I’m impressed by the questions they ask, the old notions they challenge and their desire to re-think and improve the client experience.??I’m enjoying working with the team to help them fix what needs fixing and to maximize all the unique and cool stuff they are doing for team members, clients and candidates!?Curative is committed to building the best team in the industry, to being the employer of choice in this space and to bringing new ideas and approaches into an industry that sorely needs it.?If you are considering a career change or are just curious about what’s happening at Curative, I encourage you to reach out to me directly or to Becca Hughes to learn more.?I think you’ll like what you see.?I know I have.??
