This is how IoT and hospitality are joining hands
If the hospitality industry wants its customers to keep coming back, they will have to keep them delighted. IoT in hospitality holds great potential to ante the game for this industry.
IoT is becoming more and more about the utilization of technology for a stress-free lifestyle. This is especially true when you’re looking at IoT from a consumer lens. Today, expecting that every single need should not be more than a click away, is no more a big deal. Not only is it understandable but also quite feasible, given the pace of technological advancements.
IoT in hospitality: hotels and restaurants
Since IoT is already empowering traditional industries, hospitality is no exception. The rise in mobile adoption and a fall in the cost of wireless technologies have created the right environment for such an adoption. Up until now, the hospitality industry has been known for serving an in hand experience to the customers with the help of courteous staff and luxurious facilities. However, with IoT in the picture, customer satisfaction can reach a whole new level.
Customer comfort can be enhanced with, say face detection for room access, eliminating the need for carrying keys. Automated guest rooms can be an excellent idea for detecting the natural daylight and saving energy. IoT in restaurants is being used rampantly to book a table by checking availability and waiting for status, to order food, and to make payments using the Internet. Furthermore, IoT is being utilized to maximize kitchen equipment and ensure food safety. Parking sensors in hotels and restaurants can help locate parking space, making a customer visit a happy experience.
IoT in hospitality: travel and tourism
The growing travel industry is leveraging digitalization for searching customized and cost effective hotels and resorts, using actual photographs and reviews by previous visitors, make an effortless travel plan for a traveler. Tracking luggage at an airport will become easier with IoT. For direct debit at a toll with linked bank account simple scan so as to save cash in hand, as well as time. Besides, communicating machines can be deployed at railway stations and airports to manage passenger movement, deliver gate reminders, measure journey time, and locate travelers in emergency situations.
IoT is implemented with the help of sensors, actuators, and relevant software and hardware to automate data and processes, and to generate smart output with less human effort. It works on the Internet and the data is saved, managed, and processed on the cloud, making IoT a one-time investment. These are exciting times for the hospitality sector. The industry can use the technology to its own and its customer’s greatest advantage.
