How to Invest in Startups:

Are you looking to start investing? It's time to stop propagating the myth that you need a ton of money and write big checks to start! You'll be surprised that you can actually begin angel investing for as little as $10 or $50 on some sites.?

Here are my top three tips on angel investing and how to get started with startups.

?? Put a number in your head of what you feel comfortable investing. There's a big myth that you need to put in checks like $25K to $50K to Angel Invest. But thanks to equity crowdfunding (which I'll get into more in other videos), you can now go to sites like Republic and actually start for $100 and have a meaningful equity contribution.?

?? Build a diversified portfolio. With the stock market, you would never invest in just one stock and expect your stock market portfolio to do well. Similarly, with Angel Investments, you want an entire portfolio. So now that you've earmarked about how much money you want to spend angel investing now, the next thought is how do you divide that up over about five to 10 startups??

?? Think of your areas of expertise. If you fear the risks and are doubtful of starting your investing journey, these are the best areas to start.

Trust me; there are a lot of sexy, exciting, distracting things out there. I get distracted all the time by what I think are cool investments, but then I remind myself that it's not a space that I know that much about, and I'm always much better off sticking to investments in spaces where I'm an expert, and I know a lot.
