How to integrate Dropbox - Airtable bundle using Zapier?

Saving links to new files in Airtable when a new file is uploaded to Dropbox

How the integration works:

  • A new file is uploaded to Dropbox;
  • Zapier creates a new record in Airtable.

What you need to have:

  • Dropbox account;
  • Airtable account

1. Creating Zap. While on the 'Dashboard' tab, select the applications 'Dropbox' and 'Airtable' and click on the 'Make a Zap' button:

2. Choosing the trigger event...

Select 'New File in Folder' from the dropdown list and click 'Continue'; the trigger will activate when a new file is added to the 'Dropbox' folder.

3. Next, you need to specify the 'Dropbox' account and click the 'Continue' button.

4. Next, you need to specify the trigger's settings. Choose the folder name and click the 'Continue' button.

5. Then, you need to test the trigger by clicking the 'Test trigger' button.

6. The next step – Zapier will find the file in the specified Dropbox folder.

And display all the information available in its profile. Click the 'Continue' button.

Setting up the action in the 'Airtable' service

7. In the next window, you need to specify the action that will be performed when a new file is uploaded. For the 'Airtable' application, choose 'Create Record' and click 'Continue'.

8. Next, you need to connect the 'Airtable' account. In your Airtable account, generate an API key.

Paste the generated API key into the appropriate field in the new Zapier window and click the 'Yes, Continue' button.

Click the 'Continue' button.

9. Next, you need to set up the connection between the 'Dropbox' and 'Airtable' applications. Fill in the fields where the data should be imported.

  • Fill in the required data from the dropdown list, such as Base and Table.
  • Fill in the data from the provided variables into the fields whose names correspond to the column names in the Airtable table.

After filling in the fields, click the 'Continue' button.

10. You need to test the connection between 'Dropbox' and 'Airtable' by clicking the 'Test action' button.

11. Test data has been sent to 'Airtable'.

12. Check the test data on the 'Airtable' service.

13. After a successful test, click the 'Publish Zap' button.

14. The Zap has been created, configured, and activated.
