How to install DeepSeek R1 in laptop

Today, I installed and tested simple prompt using DeepSeek R1.


1. Install Ollama

- Download Ollama at ollama.com.

- Install and follow the on-screen instructions.

- Verify: Open the terminal and check if it is installed correctly.

2. Download DeepSeek R1

- Select the model and execute the following command.

That's it!

I installed two models, '1.5b' and '14b' and asked simple question.

Answers are different per model. This is 1.5b model. Hmm.. it is not enough.

And 14b model. Well, it is still lack of intelligence.

This comes from DeepThink(R1) at deepseek.com.

This is just simple testing without setting temperature.

And this is the recommend spec. for running each model. My laptop has RTX 5000 and 16GB VRAM so no issue for running 14b model but more testing necessary.
