Congratulations. IBM InfoSphere Data Replication has been successfully

installed to:

6-???Configure CDC Instance on AIX

As advised, execute the command “/usr/IBM/CDC/Engine/bin/dmconfigurets” to configure the CDC instance:

Infosphere Data Replication - AIX
Infosphere Data Replication - AIX

Click OK.

Fill in the required fields and on the Encryption Profile click on Manage:

Infosphere Data Replication Configuration Tool in AIX - Instance Creation
Infosphere Data Replication Configuration Tool in AIX - Instance Creation

For this exercise we will create a profile with the encryption disabled:

Infosphere Data Replication - Encryption Profile

Infosphere Data Replication Configuration Tool in AIX - Instance Creation

Click OK and the instance will be created:

Infosphere Data Replication Configuration Tool in AIX - Instance Creation

Click Yes so we can start the instance and in that way the instance configuration is concluded.

Infosphere Data Replication Configuration Tool in AIX - Instance Running
Infosphere Data Replication Configuration Tool in AIX - Instance Running

7-???Use CDC Management Console to configure the Replication

Now we need to use a Windows machine to access CDC Access Server with CDC Management Console.

Since CDC Management Console is very straight forward, we will not cover it in this document.

Now let us login with the user we created when we installed Access Server:

Infosphere Data Replication - Management Console
Infosphere Data Replication - Management Console

On the Management Console create a New Datastore for the Linux Database:

Infosphere Data Replication - Management Console - Creating new Datastore
Infosphere Data Replication - Management Console - Datastore Creation

Use the ping button to make sure the connection is successful and click on connection parameters:

Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Connection Parameters
Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Connection Parameters

Insert the credentials, click ok and the datastore will be created.

Create the Datastore for the AIX database:

Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Creating New Datastore
Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Datastore Creation

Click on Connection Parameters:

Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Creating new Datastore
Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Datastore Creation

Click OK and the Datastore will be created.

Now create a New Subscription which will use the datastore we created to set the replication:

Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Creating new subscription
Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - New subscription

Click OK

Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Creating new subscription
Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Creating new subscription

Once subscription is created click YES to map the tables

Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Mapping tables
Infosphere Data Replication Management Console - Map tables

By now we have everything set for the replication.

We just need to map the tables and start the replication by first doing a refresh so it can copy a “one-shot” of the tables and start a live replication.

When we map the table, their structure gets already created on the destination.

When CDC is in replication mode, all DML operations will be replicated from the Source to the Destination tables automatically.

Now enjoy CDC ??
