How Insane is Your 2018 Recruiting Strategy?

I've heard for years that the definition of insanity is in fact "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". Many have credited Albert Einstein with this quote, others credit Alcoholics Anonymous. After some research the truth is nobody knows who said it first and it really doesn't matter.

What does matter? Well 2018 is two weeks away and the results of the Q1 2018 MEOS were published this week. What's the MEOS you ask. Here it is straight from our website.

"The ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey is one of the most trusted surveys of employment activity in the world. Every quarter, we ask more than 11,500 hiring managers about their hiring plans for the next three months. ManpowerGroup has been providing this valuable insight to greater business community for more than 50 years."

What always impresses me is the fact that the MEOS has only been wrong twice in more than 50 years. Two misses out of approximately 200 quarters isn't bad.

Now back to 2018 and what does matter. The Q1 2018 MEOS results show that hiring across the United States will be at the HIGHEST pace it's been in more than 10 years! You heard that right. Now take a pause and think of how difficult it was to recruit and hire this year. Yep, its only going get tougher and if I were a betting man I'd say the trend will continue for every quarter through 2019.

So, how insane is your 2018 recruiting strategy? What I mean is what are you planning to do differently in the new year to improve your recruiting results? Because if you do the same thing you did last year to recruit in the new year, you just may be insane.

I would welcome any comments about changes great companies are in fact making to their recruiting strategies for the new year.

My team is compiling a high level best in class recruiting strategies that we see across our clients which we'll publish in an LinkedIn post in early January.

Until then, make the time to plan for the new year. Something tells me it is going to hit hard and those who are prepared will win, and those unprepared will lose.
