How to Increase Local Business with Digital Signage

Is your local business doing everything it can to pull in more customers? Take a page out of the strategies used by national brands and Times Square and use digital signs you can easily change.

When people walk or drive past your business, is there anything in the window drawing them in? You could put a monitor or TV in the window and alternate photos of your top sellers with the deal of the day or week.

Are your employees trained to offer upsells to your customers? (Think "do you want fried with that".) If they get too busy and forget or aren't good at doing it, you could have a monitor or TV near the order or checkout counter making suggestions. (This is the same concept as putting impulse items there.)

Start paying attention as you go about your daily activities and notice how many stores are using digital monitors to display menus and daily specials (like the ones in a coffee shop in the image below).

Most of the time those signs only change when the prices do or an item is discontinued. But what if they were dynamic. Instead of one photo of a dessert, the sign showed photos of multiple desserts?

What if what was on the sign during breakfast hours was different than what was on the sign during lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch?

My first thought when I saw these was a person could offer to create digital signs for businesses in their community. Small business owners are often too busy, or lack the desire or skills to do these things themselves.

Someone who is good at talking to people (and that can be learned with practice!), could create their own territory of small businesses whose signs they design and update. To do that requires a stick for each TV or monitor, so getting them while they're at a lower price point would increase profitability.
