How to improve your printing quality

Printing high quality requires proper maintenance and settings of the inker and decorator.

The setting of the plate cylinder/printing plate towards the blankets is important to print a sharp image on the can.

When there is too much toe-in/toe-out more unnecessary printing pressure is applied. This will cause dot-gain and a blur of the image will occur.

There is a certain toe-in setting which in the past could not really be checked due to a lack of checking devices.

Rosario Inker Service has now designed a fixture which can precisely measure what the contact is between the printing plate and blankets. This fixture can be used after the inker has been placed in the pocket of the decorator. By removing the taper, the toe-in fixture can be placed on the plate cylinder shaft and the setting can be measured by a clock. You can now check if the toe-in of the printing plate towards the blanket is set to the required toe-in. The optimal reading here is 0.02mm.
