How To Improve Your Google Rankings in Simple Steps

So you have created a brilliant website but aren't being able to generate sufficient traffic for some reason. Let me tell you what the reason is, your Google Ranking is too low. The easiest way of increasing your page rank on Google is with the help of SEO or search engine optimization.

With such a large number of websites on the internet today, there is absolutely no way for anyone to guarantee that their website will be the number one result on Google. But there are a number of simple steps you can take to ensure your website ranks well on Google.

URLs

This is something that most people overlook. You will need to choose a URL before your site goes live. This will be your domain name and the address which visitors type in when they are searching for your site. It's the first thing that a visitor will notice about your website. This is why it is also the first place that Google looks to try and understand what your website is about and how it should be ranked. A good domain name will not only include the title of your business but a couple of keywords related to the industry you are in as well. It should be able to tell people who you are and what you do without being too complicated.

Webpages

Apart from the front page, you will need to work on the titles and descriptions of every page on your site as well. This will include a brief text describing exactly what users can hope to find on the page. Ideally, it should contain some keywords. This is the first thing that Google is going to look at when determining how to rank each page. This is what people will see when they are going through search results too.

Anchor text

It is important to always be looking for chances to add anchor text on your site. This is the text which visitors can click on to visit other web pages on the internet or on your website. Effective anchor texts need to be used to help viewers navigate through your site and find exactly what they are searching for. It needs to include phrases and keywords related to your website as well. This is a terrific way for you to boost SEO but too much linking will force Google to consider your website as spam. Finding the right balance is key.

Alt text for images

Search engines can only read text. They have no way of reading the images which are on your website. In order for them to understand what is displayed in a graphic or photo, they look for "alt text." This is a concise description of the image specifically for search engines. You need to be able to describe the image accurately while trying to include some keywords or the name of your business.

Social media

Did you know that your Facebook, Twitter or Google+ page could influence your ranking on Google? Being active on social media is a very important part of boosting SEO in this day and age. You need to make it easier for your viewers to share content from your website too, right? Don't forget to regularly update your social profile. Sites which generate lots of social activity are going to show up in search results more frequently.
