The buzz word everywhere today is Digital Marketing. The norms of traditional marketing have changed and the focal is now Digital Marketing. Yes, we can say that Digital Marketing is nothing but an evolved form of traditional marketing where use of digital media like web is used to connect with customers or prospects of a business. The objectives of higher sales, customer loyalty, brand awareness, brand building, revenue generation or any objectives framed in traditional marketing campaign still remains the same, only difference is the medium by which it is done now than a decade back. The Digital touch points such as tablets, smartphones and wearable devices are thus becoming more pervasive around the world.
The digital world is ever changing and it can become a challenge for a business to maintain this agility in terms of adopting the latest trends in Digital arena. Every new invention requires a lot of skills, patience and resource to be implemented in a business sphere, more if the business is a small one.
Digital marketing however is a practice essential to modern marketing and here are some easy ways to help a business to improve their digital marketing.
1. Customer Acquisition is still the key
Like traditional marketing, the major tasks in front of the digital marketing department are new customer acquisition and retention of existing customers. Customer acquisition is still the key and for this the major strategy is to build a great Content. “Content is King” and is the foundation of Digital marketing. A solid knowledge of how to create content and understanding the creative aspect so as to define ones business and its offering and thus targeting the audience is very essential.
It’s very important for a business to set up goals for digital marketing and learn the steps needed to achieve the goals. A thorough understanding on how to make content which are digitally acceptable and increases the chances of showing your name in organic search is very important. Keywords are like the punch lines of traditional marketing, identifying them requires digital marketing skills.
It is important to understand which digital marketing channel is effective for a business as we have number of options today. Mobile App marketing, Video Marketing, Facebook Marketing, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, Whatsapp or name anything today the main aim is to have web traffic to your page and to do so a smart way of content sharing is must. To do so, it’s important to share your content in a smart way and equally important to optimize your media plan.
2. Analysing your Digital presence.
It’s not just enough to use every digital platform to market ones product or services but also it’s mandatory to understand the analytic of each. Measuring the ROI of the digital platform is must. You should have team to analyse this data on regular basis or hire a company outside which can help the you to evaluate its digital presence, map your place in the industry and measure the ROI. Comparing your report with competitors report can give you a lot of insight on how to optimally use the digital media plan.
The easiest and most inexpensive way is to get a Google ranking and come in the organic search result of the customer. To do so a thorough knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is required. Competitor analysis is very important to get in front of them on the search results page.
3. Too many cooks spoil the broth
Since Digital marketing is norm, it does not mean that one should use all the tools of digital marketing. It’s better to focus on few and build it rather than using all digital channels and producing a flop show. A big brand can easily invest and manage to use all channels but for a start-up or a small business that’s not the case. Important is to make your mark using few digital channel in the industry initially and then slowly adopt the left ones. Also it is important what the target audience of the business uses, if they are more Facebook lover then definitely using Facebook marketing is better than using Twitter initially.
4. Customer retention is an Art
Building up customer base using digital platform is easier but retaining them is a challenge. Business need to react to the customers messaging or else competitors will steal the customer base. Content thus again is very important to keep the customers engaged. Personalize messages and special attention is very much required to handle grievances and thus use of ORM( Online Reputation Management) is so prevalent these days. Companies should concentrate on those customers that are more likely to convert based on their positions in the buying cycle. This will help in improving company’s digital-marketing efficiency.
Excellent customer experiences by interacting with them through multiple Digital outlets which are genuine, engaging, interesting and interactive are need of the hour. Regularly reassessing the overall digital marketing strategy of a business is one of the best ways to stay ahead of the competitors, acquire new customers, retain the old ones and produce more personalized experiences in the minds of the customers.
