Each Team is composed of unique set of team members . Each team has a set of skill sets and efficiencies mapped when he/she joins an organisation. Just as PONC helps prevent defects from happening by encouraging Doing It Right First Time and calculating Price of Non Conformance , similarly you can apply the cost or the cost of non conformance of any of your team members in any given set of key actions of his/her in a process flow chart. Since Process is a set of sequential result oriented Actions for an outcome, so are the team members in a team. The total output of a team is only a sum total of effective work /outcome given by every member of the team. If any team member does not contribute effectively conforming to his/her requirement just like in a process flow chart, there would be a cost incurred in terms of dollar/rupee value for the time/effort /wastage incurred since the team member did not do RIGHT FIRST TIME.this cost in hard cash must be the metric since this is the cost which should not have been asked to be paid by the organisation. The organisation hired you to do the right thing without defects. Till the team member is aware of how much his/her PONC in real terms of cash is costing to the project cost/per person cost at the client facility or otherwise, he/she will never see the impact of this powerful tool of Philip Crosby.

6 年Taking the analogy further, a cross functional team comprising members from different groups like HR, Finance, Accounts, Process engineering, quality analysis etc combined with the external members of a project like your suppliers, vendors, partners : also contribute in a significant manner tpo your cost and hence need for calculating their individual or collective PONC.
