How to improve our lives and performance

How to improve our lives and performance

Have you ever had to call the helpline for an issue with your computer and the first thing they ask you to do is to clear your cache and cookies??

Most likely you have and that advice can cause a bit more stress to your situation, however it usually fixes the issue.?

I offer the simile that our unconscious mind is like a computer program using cache and cookies to run more efficiently. Please follow me on this journey.?

Let's start with (for those less than tech savvy) what is your cache and what are “cookies”.?

Cache defined: A cache is a hardware or software component that stores data so that future requests for that data can be served faster.?

As an example, when you visit a website, your web browser stores elements of the webpage in its cache. The next time you visit the same site, the browser can load these elements from the cache instead of downloading them again from the web server.?

This helps the computer improve performance and speed up data retrieval, giving you a better experience. (In theory).?

Now, guess what? The unconscious (some call it subconscious) mind (UM) works in a very similar manner.? The unconscious mind is the part of your mind that stores everything you are not thinking of…right now.?

There is a lot of information out there that goes deeper into this topic, to include several videos I put out and a few articles on the same. Please check them out if you are interested in learning more about this powerful tool that is inside of us.?

Just know that the UM stores information and memories from your past in order to allow you to access information when needed and to not have to relearn everything, every time. You can imagine if you had to learn how to drive every time you got into your car. Or if you had to relearn how to interact with people in social situations each and every time.?

Now, with that said, realize there are similarities between issues with your computer because your cache is holding files that are no longer updated with the newest information and how we may not be interacting (reacting) to our world in a way that is most conducive to achieve the results we want to achieve your ideal life.?

?If your computer has an old version of the page you are visiting and things have changed, then you will not have the best experience (at the best) or the page may not even work. The third option is that you will be interacting with the page based on old information. Have you ever visited a page that showed “old” information that is not only out of date but also misleading? Maybe it shows a date of an event incorrectly because it was changed since the last time you cached the page. Maybe you might have even shown up on the wrong date or time for an event. Clear your cache and the new updated dates were there all along.?

The same can be said about our UM. It holds information based on our past experiences. Guess what? A majority of our values and beliefs come from before the age of 14. 0-7 imprinting (kind of like a sponge, taking in everything in our environment as the truth) and then 7-14 modeling ( Looking around us at those we either respect or are in a position that we “should” respect and forming our opinions and actions around that).?

If we do not take the time to “clear our cache” then we will continue to interact with our world based on those past learnings. You can see that that could be a major issue for most of us.?

How much have you (and the world around you) changed since that time??

As I talk about our internal filters (our kind of cache) it includes, but not limited to:

Beliefs, Values, Decisions and memories. They all play a part in how we “show up” in the world and if you are having issues in some areas of your life it would be good to start with these filters.?

Browser history is just that; the history of what you have done.? I will just say this, the past is a prologue. We can be informed by our past but not driven by it. Please allow the lessons of the past to stick around but let go of anything that no longer serves you.?

Now a bit about Cookies:

?Cookies are small text files that websites send to a user's browser to help personalize their online experience. Cookies help websites remember information about a user's visit, which can make the site more useful and easier to use again. Cookies help websites personalize the user experience by remembering information about the user.

Here again we are aligned with our Unconscious mind (UM) and how it works. It remembers what you like, dislike or love and well, not love so much.?

You can see how this could show up in a negative way in your life if you allowed it to. If you continue to just like those things that you have always liked and not paid any attention to those things you “didn't like” (in quotes because you may have never tried this thing and are taking your cue from someone you respected or tried it once and for some reason didn't care for it) ? when you were younger then you may never try anything new. Worse yet, you may never discover your new favorite type of food or activity.?

So if there is an area of your life that is not going the way you want it to then I have a question for you.?

Did you clear your cache and cookies??

If you would like to learn more about how your unconscious mind can be used to get the results you want then please reach out.?

Great analogy Jason in relation to the vast storehouse that is the subconscious mind.

Hey Jason, What a fascinating metaphor! Comparing our unconscious mind to a computer running optimally is a powerful way to think about personal growth and performance improvement. It got me thinking about how our internal "software" influences our actions and results. Understanding the workings of the unconscious mind has been a game-changer for me. It's like realizing a whole world behind the scenes influences our decisions, emotions, and even our potential. When I'm more aware of my subconscious patterns, I can change old habits and adopt new ones that align more closely with my goals. One insight from the article that resonated with me was the idea of regularly "updating" our internal systems—much like we would with our computers. This means continuously learning, reflecting, and evolving. Doing so ensures that our mental frameworks are in sync with the ever-changing demands of life and work. I'm curious, Jason and everyone else. What are some ways you’ve tapped into the power of your unconscious mind to improve your life and performance? Do you have any tips or experiences you'd like to share? I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
