How Important Is It For Business Owners To Know About Copywriting?
If you're a business owner, and you have all the customers you want — and they just keep showing up – hey! Just keep doing what you're doing. Because, whatever it is, you've found the magic formula and it will sustain your business.
I say that somewhat tongue-in-cheek, because every business owner I've ever met eventually admits they need more new customers, and they're not sure how to get them.
In reality, there is no magic formula. It's a question of odds:
What can you do to maximize your odds of getting new customers today, tomorrow, and all the days after that?
Having worked with thousands of businesses and having run a few myself, I have concluded that of all the marketing and sales methods available, the one that works best (and most consistently) is: copywriting.
Debbie Owen is a fellow copywriter and coach, and she's especially good at helping businesses who know next to nothing about copywriting, or about direct response marketing, take the "magic" of these practices, and turn it into new customers.
For example, there are two basic things you need to determine before you even start to write an ad for your business:
- Who, exactly, are your customers — and what do they want?
- What, exactly, are you going to offer them in your ad that makes them click... pick up the phone... or come to your store?
Those are just two of the many valuable tips she offers in an interview on today's Copywriters Podcast.
