How to import a Spice model into the LTspice
A step by step guide
1. let us say you need to import the TPS5450 model
2. go to the?https://www.ti.com/product/TPS5450 and try to find the Unencrypted PSpice transient model under the Design & Development section, the URL to the model is https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slvmcv0
3. just download it and unzip it
4. in the archive there is a file named?TPS5450_TRANS.LIB - save it to the dedicated folder for your future downloaded models - the LtSpice will look for the model in the folder active during the import process
5. open LtSpice and choose to start a new schematics
6. choose menu File - Open - and direct the File open dialogue to the file you saved in step 4
7. the text file window will be opened, locate the line leading with the word ".SUBCKT" and mark select the entire "TPS5450_TRANS" string
8. press the right mouse button and select "Create symbol"
9. now there will appear a newly opened window with the generated model - typically the yellow rectangle with ports
10. if you are happy with the look of the model, select from the menu File - Save and you are done.
11. to use the newly imported model you need to choose the Component tool with the hotkey F2 - the model is located in the [AutoGenerated] folder
12. now you are ready to use your brand new model.
