How To Implement Agile In A-Team?

Introduction?:

One of the most frequently asked questions I get in today's time is "How do we get started with Agile?", "What do we do to make it happen?", "How do we transform our team to work in Agile?" and these are the questions that I will try to address in this blog post.?

You might want to transition to?Agile,? possibly because your management wants you to or you are trying to bridge a gap in the project, and you think that the Agile approach could help you do so.

You could also want to improve your team's way of working and know that Agile can make it happen.

Perhaps the current working practice is creating problems for you and exploring ways to solve those problems. Maybe you see new opportunities which you can achieve by adopting Agile.?

The reasons for transitioning to?Agile? could be endless, but it's essential to know WHY you want to implement Agile in your organization, and then the WHAT and HOW follow. So, let's explore the WHY a little.?

What is your WHY?

There is no one size fits all approach that can be implemented while transitioning to Agile. But one can start with a good WHY.

Why do you want to Agile?

What are the pains you are experiencing in your delivery process and the gains you would expect to achieve once you implement Agile. Finally, what are the key performance indicators that you can use to establish your goals??

Approach #1

Once you have established a WHY and a clear understanding of?Agile , implementing what you are pretty straightforward.

Once you have a clear vision, then you can consider educating yourself and your team in Agile. After that, you can experiment with Agile for 2 or 3 months and see if it's working out for you or not.

Your KPIs can help you decide whether implementing Agile is helping you achieve your initial goals or not. During this time, it is crucial to get the buy-in from your team members and stakeholders to know what is happening and why it is happening. This will make things easier for you.?

Approach #2

There is another way to implement?Agile? without really committing to Agile practice.

You can say that you are not doing Agile, but you can still slice up your work into small batch sizes.

You can pick up the practice of delivering small-size deliverables to your clients more frequently.

You can establish frequent delivery milestones and bring more transparency into the work in progress by using kanban boards for work visualization.?

Depending on the results you get and the problems that are getting solved in the process, you could also introduce other tools such as daily 15 minutes coordination meetings, frequent deliveries, etc.

Conclusion?:?

All in all, Agile is not a "my way is the highway" kind of a development approach.

Instead of committing 100% to?Agile methodology , you can always slowly transition into Agile by implementing some strategies and tactics from the Agile way of working and observing the results you get in the process.

If you can accomplish the KPIs that you set out to achieve, you can adopt more Agile strategies and come to a point where the team and the stakeholders are satisfied with the results your methods are getting.?
