How to be an Impact Player

If you want to become a better leader, there are thousands of books you could read. But perhaps Dolly Parton can save you some time, at least in clarifying your aims.

"If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more,” the inimitable singer once said, “then you are an excellent leader."

The real question is, how do you grow your influence to inspire others?

We have three new original conversations to inspire you in this month’s issue of the Conference in Your Inbox newsletter.?

How to Be an Impact Player: A Conversation with Liz Wiseman

“While I wish leaders were hyper-vigilant about ensuring that people who work quietly or behind the scenes don’t have to self-promote, they aren’t. If we want to do work that has a lot of meaning and makes an impact, we must ensure that our impact is seen.” Read the conversation here.

Creating Space for Creativity and Complexity: A Conversation with Tania Katan

“We've got this whole jam with comfort and want to be comfortable. That's not the point of life. The point of life is to be in complex conversations. Leadership must create spaces for complexities that demand respectful, necessary conversations.” Read the conversation, which includes a focus on LGBTQIA equity this Pride Month, here.

What Happens When an Organization Commits to Corporate Social Responsibility

“There was an earthquake in Turkey last February. Immediately after the earthquake, when we saw these horrible pictures, we realized that this area was pretty poor even before the earthquake.? So we bought food and sleeping bags and sent them through the Turkish Embassy. Our CEO flew down with a plane full of baby formula and sleeping bags, delivered them in person, and helped people distribute food. Then, we decided to build a school with our collected funds,” said Jasna Mihelj Coustaury, General Manager of European Operations for Plume Design, Inc., in Slovenia. Read the conversation here.
