To my knowledge it requires combination of self-reflection and feedback from others.?
- Think or make list of past successes, those challenges you have overcome successfully, what skills you rely on ,what are those things you feel you can handle easily.
- Make list of those things / tasks you enjoy , that brings excitement, energy , or bring you satisfaction because they align with your strengths.
- Consider your professional routines, these may often highlight your strengths and weaknesses.
- Ask your colleagues / peers, people you work with, they know your strengths that you may not identify by yourself, request for honest feedback.
- Ask your friends / family members, they have valuable insights into your natural talents.
- Check out for any formal / informal feedback at your work place, what strengths and weaknesses have been highlighted by your manager.
- Use tools to identify your strengths like Myers-Briggs type, Cliftons Strengths, DISC assessment. Understand behavioral tendencies and how they can translate into strengths in different environments.
- Monitor your wins, keep log of situations and where you have performed well.
- Evaluate your problem solving skills. Notice what people frequently ask you for help with, it may be sign of strength in that area.
- Reflect on difficult situations you have handled well. Often strengths emerge when you are forced to push through obstacles, showing resilience, adaptability or leadership.
- By stepping into new projects or tasks that challenge you , different roles you take up you may discover strengths in you, you didn’t know you had.
- Pay attention to what feels like natural vs forced, those that feel often align with your strengths.
