How IBS Gurgaon Shapes Socially Responsible Leaders: Snapshots from an NGO Visit.

As human beings, we have a responsibility towards humanity - to be compassionate and help the disadvantaged. IBS Gurgaon encourages us to give back to society and shapes us into socially responsible leaders. As part of the Personal Effectiveness Management course assessment, all first-semester students of IBS Gurgaon had to visit a non-governmental organization and present a report on their contributions and experiences during the visit. My friends and I visited The Earth Saviours Foundation; in this blog, I'd like to recount my experience and how IBS Gurgaon instills corporate social responsibility and values in us. The Earth Saviours Foundation rescues and takes care of abandoned senior citizens and physically and mentally disabled individuals. It's a haven for them - the NGO provides medical aid, free meals, shelter, and basic amenities. We met the residents and listened to their life stories, hardships, and how the NGO was helping them. The cruelty the residents were subjected to before the NGO rescued them was disheartening, but they were resilient, hopeful, and full of positivity! The warmth and dedication of the staff were inspiring and contagious, and we hardly realized how quickly time flew by.

As we discussed Corporate Social Responsibility programs with the staff, I realized that CSR and ethics are more than corporate duties - they are moral responsibilities and what we owe each other as human beings. By integrating these activities into our curriculum and allowing us to understand humanitarian work and organizational structure at the ground level, IBS Gurgaon reinforces values of social responsibility in us. The NGO relies on donations from corporate firms, and it was a powerful reminder of the role businesses can play in supporting humanitarian causes and uplifting people in need. The visit was an enriching, emotional experience, and it taught me how every individual contribution, big or small, can make a difference in someone's life. I look forward to more such initiatives that IBS Gurgaon might facilitate for students in the future.
