?? How I Would Rebuild My LinkedIn Profile from Scratch

Since I started on LinkedIn, I’ve grown my profile to…

  • 25,000+ connections
  • A weekly newsletter with 5,820 subscribers
  • 350+ skills endorsements
  • 50 recommendations

The connections, resources, and friendships that I have been able to make because of LinkedIn have been an invaluable source of inspiration and growth for me as a cross-cultural consultant.

It didn’t come without hard work.

Every single day I make posts, comments, and engage with others.

Every time you engage with the LinkedIn community, you are making an investment in yourself and career - and the investment is well worth it!

I’ve benefited so much from this platform which is why I’m baffled that there are still so many professionals who have yet to optimize their profile, contribute at all, or even upload a profile picture. Check out these recent polls!

I’ve invested a lot of time to build my LinkedIn profile, but if I would?DELETE?my profile today and start from scratch, here is?EXACTLY?what I would do.

1. Be a CONTRIBUTOR not a consumer

I would build a habit of posting every day. It’s not just about quantity of posts - but the value added to others on the platform. I would share my unique perspective on topics. It could be simple things like my take on a current event, industry news, or a personal stories from my experiences.

You may not know that only 1% of LinkedIn users post at least once a month. There is a significant opportunity to stand out by simply being an active contributor. By consistently posting quality content, you can establish yourself as an authoritative voice within your field.

2. Be a GIVER not a taker

Many people make the mistake of using LinkedIn to beg for a job or ask for other professionals for favors. The reality is that no stranger is going to go out of their way to help someone they don’t know. Instead, I would focus on asking myself, “How can I help others?” This means being proactive about answering questions, sharing information and resources, and finding people who are looking for help.

By giving generously without expecting anything in return, you can establish a positive reputation, build trust with your connections, and open doors to new opportunities. Networking is about building relationships, not just asking for favors. When you give to others, you are more likely to receive in return - but even if you don’t, you still made a difference in someone else’s life.

3. Build a STRATEGIC following

I would follow company pages that are specific to my industry. This would allow me to stay up to date on the latest trends and insights, while also positioning myself as someone who is knowledgeable and engaged in the field. This would help me get noticed by people in the companies that I want to work with.
