HOW I WENT VIRAL ON QUORA EFFORTLESSLY: 232K VIEWS, 5.8K UPVOTES

Still not using Quora? You’re missing the opportunity to build a credibility for your own personal branding which you can also use to strengthen your business brand.

Quora is one of the best social media to interact, learn and connect.

When I first started using Quora in 2016, I was a little bit confused about the platform.

I was thinking, â€œThere are so many questions on my feed, should I answer it?”

I didn’t know much how I could enjoy using Quora so I left and just binge watch movies.

In 2015, I lost my job. I knew it was my fault. I used to be a hardworking person in the company I worked for but I got tired on repetitive tasks.

My hands hurt almost every day for hours of hours of research, CTRL + C, CTRL + V on Excel Sheets.

I was looking for something better – tasks that I enjoy doing while earning more cause’ I knew I wasn’t happy in robotic tasks.

It was one of my lowest point in my life. I was worrying for the days if I couldn’t get a new job.

I didn’t really have much in my savings.

I was looking for a job every day but I realized that it wasn’t easy and fast to get a new job even if I have some work past experiences.

I had to be patient. I wanted to make sure that I would provide my own food and pay for my rent and other bills.

I used to cry when days and weeks passed by. I failed from so many interviews.

I was hurt and a little bit hopeless at that time. I was thinking just to go home to my mother but I knew she would be very disappointed.

I told to myself that I had to be strong and try and try again.

When I used up all my savings in my bank account, I started to ask help from my friends to lend me some money and I promised them I would pay them back when I get the job.

My daily routine was hustling to get a new job, then I read blogs about inspirational stories to motivate myself before I go to sleep at night.

I needed it. I wanted to feel that I was not alone.

After reading a lot of blogs, I found James Altucher’s answer on Quora about life.

His story about his successes, failures and insecurities.

I cried after reading his answer. After that, he became one of my life’s heroes.

I had to be persistent in finding all the possible alternatives to speed up the process of finding a sustainable income. I couldn’t rely on just the old way of finding a job.

Then, I found Fiverr.

I felt like I had no choice but to swallow my ego and just accept what is offered to me just to buy some food.

I survived in a month. I started to accept $5 task on Fiverr in 2016.

It wasn’t a sustainable income. And I only had 3-5 people in a month and withdrawing my income on Fiverr takes 14 days and another 5 days from Paypal to my bank account.

It was killing me!

I felt helpless and alone. I kept going. While finding a reliable work, I still did Fiverr.

I thought it was a defeat but it turned out it was my big break.

In my first 2 years, I only made around $200 – $300 per month from my past jobs.

A year after that, I learned to manage multiple clients that I got from Fiverr earning around $600-700 per month.

When I got my big break, it took me another year of constantly learning and revising my offered services until I got a client who liked my work ethics and decided to give more projects for me.

In 2017, it was my first time to earn a thousand dollars from a single client! I cried!

Since 2016, I write on Quora from time to time.

I started to write about life… my life.

I also explored other topics in marketing, psychology, digital marketing and personal development.

I enjoyed reading answers most of the time than writing.

Today, I have more than 100 answers and I regret the days when I didn’t write.

I have an all-time views of over 350K and an average of monthly views of 26K.

If I was only consistent, maybe I would have reached over a million readers now.

I read on Quora how other professionals gained personal branding that lead into a rewarding career and business.

You can share your expertise on Quora through answering relevant questions.

Most importantly, you can inspire, connect and provide a valuable information on any topics that you care about.

In my answers about life, I was getting 1 – 15 upvotes.

When I used Quora to write about my struggles, it was my way to let out my feelings that I couldn’t tell to other people.

I felt better for sharing my stories.

I got my first 37 upvotes on my answer about the comparison of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

I was amazed how people find it helpful.

So, I started to write about marketing, social media marketing, lead generation and other interesting stuff that I know.

On my first few answers, I didn’t get much upvotes. In fact, most of my answers are zero – 15 upvotes.

I wondered why.

“If people ask about it, why other people couldn’t find the value in it?”

Then, I stopped writing. I felt like I was wasting my time for putting a lot of effort in writing and researching while not getting paid for it.

Months passed and I started reading on Quora again and write from time to time when I feel like writing.

I found an interesting question about â€œwhat are some awesome psychological facts?”

I used to watch a lot of Youtube videos and read content about human psychology and consumers behavior.

I only spent 10 to 15 minutes to write it on bulleted list and just hit the submit button.

Days passed, my answer reached 39.8K views and 272 upvotes.

After that, my next few answers didn’t get much upvotes.

In fact, my well-researched answers are not getting much views compare to my effortless answers about my experiences at work, life and just some interesting things that I know.

Last year, I found a question about making money online.

“So, why not share about my experience and provide resources that might be helpful?”

I was about to sleep at the time so I didn’t pay attention about the flow of my story.

I just wrote and went to sleep.

The next few days, notifications started to pop-up on my phone from Quora. Until now, most of my notifications are from Quora.

In my conclusion,

We want a human response about our problems that put Quora on a big advantage.

And anyone can share their views, opinions and expertise on a single question.

As humans, we want stories to find inspiration, connection and learning through emotions – it can be your experiences or other experiences, writing analogies, creative writing to explain things or situations better.

Explaining in technical terms do not resonate emotions. Perhaps, that’s the reason why people mostly ignore it based on my answers.

The most valued answers have timeless content.

After my answer went viral, I received a lot of messages from people asking for my help.

From all the available resources that they can find on google with flashy websites and landing pages with amazing offers, they chose to reach out for my help.

Some people want to pay me to coach them. I refused because I haven’t crafted a perfect success formula in freelancing business.

My answer that went viral didn’t happen overnight.

It just happened that out of 100+ answers… that 1 answer is my most valuable contribution that inspired hundreds of thousands of people.

“What’s your story that can inspire a lot of people?”

So true, I just joined Quora 2019.... I also regret not answering questions earlier.
