How I Used ChatGPT to Re-Engage Cold Leads

With all the buzz around AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, I thought, why not see how AI could help me breathe new life into some cold leads??After all, cold leads aren’t dead ends—they are untapped opportunities!?

?A structured plan to re-engage them taps into previously invested resources and reignites interest, increasing conversion potential without generating entirely new leads. A re-engagement plan allows you to address evolving needs, pain points, and timing, keeping your outreach dynamic and responsive to lead shifts.

So, which tool did I call on for this endeavor??ChatGPT! I leaned on this trusty AI sidekick to help craft a strategy for re-engaging these leads and positioning my company’s offerings in a way that resonates.?

Here’s the strategic plan ChatGPT recommended:

  1. Segment the Cold Leads: Prioritize and group leads based on their past interactions, like attending webinars or downloading resources.
  2. Craft Targeted Messaging: Create personalized email sequences for each group, offering relevant follow-ups or exclusive offers.
  3. Use Multi-Channel Outreach: Combine segmented emails with LinkedIn engagement and well-timed calls to maintain contact.
  4. Deliver Value: Offer fresh content, free consultations, or event invites to provide ongoing value and relevance.
  5. Track Engagement: Monitor email opens, link clicks, and responses to identify and focus on responsive leads.
  6. Leverage Social Proof: Share relevant success stories and host peer-involved webinars to build credibility.
  7. Deploy Time-Sensitive Offers: Create urgency with limited-time discounts or renewed free trials.

As a seasoned demand gen leader, I can tell you that this is a solid, well-structured plan with the right mix of value, personalization, and relevance to re-engage those cold leads. But let’s be real—the devil is in the details, and there are a few critical gaps that can’t be ignored.

What’s missing from this plan??

  • Supporting content to fuel the re-engagement?
  • A structured approach to data and insights
  • Automation tools to streamline and scale your outreach
  • A strong partnership and feedback loop with the broader marketing team

With these insights (and those obvious gaps!), I have decided to launch a blog series titled Lead Handling in the Age of AI. This three-part series will be available shortly—stay tuned.?

It will include:?

  • Part 1: Strategies for re-engaging cold leads
  • Part 2: Automating lead handling
  • Part 3: Top tactics for increasing retention

Would you like more insights or to discuss other strategies? Feel free to reach out!

Happy hunting!
