How I use ChatGPT as a Product Manager (With Prompts)?-?Part?1

PM Fit Paramid by Dan Olsen

As shown in the image, we should start with users by considering this. I’ve written this step-by-step approach with the help of AI?—?structured into clear, actionable steps. Considering that we’re building something from scratch and we’ve nothing but an idea.

Step 01: Define the Product.

Just Explain: What is it? And How does it work?

If you don’t have the answers and wish to ask for help from AI. Use this Prompt;

Understand this [product description] and answer the following questions. What is it? Explain the core functionality of your product. How does it work? Break it down into simple steps, if applicable, and a List of Features or Addons.

Now, you’ve a much clearer idea of the product and how it’d work, but who would use it?

Step 02: Who’s the Target Audience?

Once you’ve a clear image, the second question is, who am I building it for?

  1. Who will benefit most from your product?
  2. What are their most significant pain points, challenges, and problems related to your products?
  3. How will your target audience use your product in their daily lives or businesses?
  4. What the audience expects to receive or experience after conversing or using our product.

Prompt;

Understand this Product [Response of Step 01] and tell me Who will benefit most from your product? What would be their pain points, challenges, and problems related to your products? How will they use your product in their daily lives or businesses? What would they expect to receive or experience after conversing or using our product?

Step 03: Audience Segmentation and Profiling: Now that you have identified your target audience. You need more information and segment the audience into different groups.

Prompt:

First, Divide the target audience [response of step 02] into segments, and for each segment, define who they are, what they need, their pain points, and their current mindset.
Second, Understand what drives their purchase decisions and how they interact with similar products or services.
Third, the desired outcome: for each segment, determine what we want them to think, feel, and do after engaging with your product.

Step 04: Identifying Underserved Needs: Now, you’ve so much information about the target audience. Save it somewhere, but to move forward, we need really specific information and that’d be the list of the needs and expectations of all the segment.

Prompt;

Identify each segment's needs, desires, and pain points. This includes both explicit needs (what customers say they want) and implicit needs (what customers might not be aware they need).
Second, Understand what customers expect from the product or service and how well current offerings meet these expectations.

Step 05: Feature Ideation Based on Audience Needs The idea is to design features that meet the needs of each audience segment. Based on the insights gathered, brainstorm features that would cater to each segment's needs.

Prompt;

Understand the needs and expectations [response of Step 04] and Come up with a list of Features based on their expectations and initiatives that would cater to their needs.

Step 06: Now you have a list of features.

You need prioritization;

Prompt;

Here is a list [Response of Step 05] of all the features that our users requested and a list [response of Step 04] of needs and expectations for the product. Using predictive analytics techniques, prioritize the following features for development based on their potential impact and alignment with customer needs.

Step 07: Roadmap Development

Now that we’ve everything, we are ready to create a strategic roadmap for feature development. AI can optimize project timelines by predicting potential bottlenecks.

Prompt;

Create a strategic roadmap for feature development. Develop a timeline for implementing each feature. Set realistic deadlines and milestones for the development process. Prioritize features based on the value they provide to the target audience and the feasibility of implementation.

I use ChatGPT in other tasks as well, like;

  1. Develop a comprehensive project management plan to implement features.
  2. Analyzing the Customer Support Queries to gain insights into customer needs, pain points, and satisfaction levels and Analyze the root causes of these pain points.
  3. Research and do the Market Analysis, Insights, and Trends. To stay ahead of market trends and ensure the product remains competitive.
  4. Competitor Analysis: To understand the competitive landscape and differentiate the product.
  5. Writing copy for Product Pages.
  6. Writing Blogs related to Products that don’t sound like Bots.

I’ll write these articles and link them in these bullet points, so make sure you revisit this article to check out.

The idea is to help, learn, and create products that people wanna use/buy. That actually solves their problem or helps them achieve their goal.
