How about the I in Tech?

How about the I in Tech?

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the first edition of "Keep Calm and Tech On."Whether we are a technologist or not, tech permeates every part of our lives. Let’s delve a little into often uncharted aspects of our lives in business.??

Understanding Ourselves: A Framework for Personal Awareness and Growth

We will be barking up the wrong tree if we don’t start with ourselves, because ultimately every aspect of our experience, even Tech,? is all about ourselves, not about the world.

>Are we in a constant blocking and tackling mode with all the crazy stuff that comes at us??

OR?

>Are we able to do pattern recognition techniques to be self-aware and use frameworks to help guide us in solving the challenges?

The first part is AWARENESS. Just like in a Marketing Funnel, without awareness first, there is no consideration, conversion, or loyalty, even within ourselves.?

What framework do you use for self-help and self-improvement? For me personally, In recent years I have developed an appreciation of these gems hidden in plain sight in my own culture. Take for example Dussehra, a 9-day festival and festivities which most of my life I thought was all about Good Vs Evil, Colorful festivities, and Dressed-up Social gatherings.?

Dussehra, a festival celebrated for nine days, involves the worship of goddesses and culminates in a day of celebration. The goddess versus the demons she destroys resulting in a victory - Good old fashioned Good vs Bad, Good Guy Wins, Simple, straightforward.. Or is it?

What if the Good and the Bad are both - YOU?

The funny thing is that the demons have names like Madhu (Sweetness) "Ketap" (Resentment), "Maheshasura" (Ego), "Dhumralochana" (Smoky Vision), Rakthabeeja (Contagion). It turns out that these demons are not external adversaries but inner struggles, and the goddess represents the courage and ability within ourselves to overcome them.

Let's explore these inner "demons" one by one:

  • FOMO (Fear of Missing Out): How often are we driven by a desire for external validation, seeking happiness only when others validate us, and feeling unhappy when they don't? What framework can we use to break free from this pattern?
  • Clarity: In various situations, how well do we recognize and understand things clearly, free from judgment and clouded perspectives? Can we develop a framework for unbiased perception?
  • Drunken Self-Importance: Are there moments when our ego blinds us, leading to impulsive reactions without considering the consequences? What frameworks can help us avoid such pitfalls?
  • Paralyzing Doubt: How do we address self-doubt that hinders our ability to act effectively? Can we implement frameworks for confidence and decision-making?
  • Ego: Can we look beyond our self-interest and embrace the ideas, opinions, and perspectives of others? How can a framework for empathy guide us in this journey?

These inner demons, when recognized and acknowledged, can unlock our potential for self-improvement and personal growth, driven by the frameworks we develop to navigate life's complexities.

A New Perspective on Traditions

Beyond the rituals and festivities, I've come to appreciate the deeper lessons traditions offer for personal growth. Dussehra signifies a new beginning, an opportunity for renewal and self-improvement. Each year, it reminds us that every day can be a new year, a new you—a chance for cleansing and rebirth.

I hope you've enjoyed this exploration of self-awareness, personal growth, and the role of frameworks in shaping our journey. In future issues of "Keep Calm and Tech On," we'll delve into frameworks connecting the personal and professional dimensions of our lives in tech and Business.

Happy Sunday!

Very Nice Initiative. The change in perception mentioned itself adds much value to our World View. Looking forward to the forthcoming series

Perfect. The Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) syndrome can affect individuals who have achieved substantial success in their respective fields.
